Collaborate with multidisciplinary team and nursing leadership to establish, define, and communicate departmental goals consistent with organizational mission and goals
Promote family-centered care
Serve as a clinical resource to staff and other departments
Responsible for the management of respiratory care of infants, toddlers, preschool, school age, and adolescents, with both medical and surgical, orthopedic, and neurological conditions, as well as, children with developmental disabilities
Provide direct patient care by performing patient/family assessments and interventions, staff education and coordination of plans from a multi disciplinary team
Provide training; assess and evaluate and/or enhance competency of nursing personnel and PRN Respiratory Therapy staff in respiratory skills appropriate for their roles
Communicate and collaborate with other health care professionals, patients, and families
Develop respiratory policies, procedures, practice guideline, and educational programs for staff
Perform comprehensive respiratory care evaluation for inpatient and outpatient population as indicated
Assess the needs for respiratory care-related equipment and supplies
Provide expertise and direction in performance improvement efforts related to respiratory therapy
Take calls to resolve/refer respiratory care problems
Effectively investigates, evaluates, and resolves physician, patient/family, and staff concerns, and keeps the Director informed
Completes behavior and performance-based performance evaluations as assigned on time
Monitors staff performance and holds staff accountable for performance and behavior
Required Skills/Abilities
Must be a graduate of an accredited school for respiratory care
Current license with the Texas Department of Health
Must be credentialed as a RRT by the National Board of Respiratory Care with pediatric experience
Perinatal/pediatric specialist and CPFT certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care preferred
