Job Description :

Title: Senior Security Engineer
Duration: 12 Months Plus Extensions
Location: Dallas, TX

Duties and Requirements :

  • Implement and maintain various security technologies and tools used for security policy management, certificate management, privileged access management, and network access control (NAC), intrusion detection/prevention (IDS/IPS), network and system monitoring.
  • Manages the NAC platform updates, upgrades and overall maintenance.
  • Participate in the evaluation of new IT security tools
  • Manages network security related to on premise and cloud-based networks
  • Work with other ITS teams and business users to identify and develop security solutions.
  • Ensure that all infrastructure, systems, services and applications comply with approved network security standards and best practices.
  • Manages network security audit platforms (PCI, CJIS, etc.)
  • Audit security devices to ensure that they meet established standards, conventions and best practices
  • Assist in developing security policies, procedures and standards
  • Follow established change control procedures
  • Vet firewall and VPN access requests
  • Provide network security support for the infrastructure, systems and applications across multi-site enterprise and data center environments
  • Ensure the confidentiality, integrity and accessibility of information
  • Protect and secure company resources on and off premise
  • Keep up with emerging threats, tools and technologies
  • Understand advanced threats and identify solutions to mitigate risk
  • Assist in the investigation of vulnerabilities, threats and policy violations
  • Provide in-depth support for IT security incidents
  • Work on security related Incidents, Service Requests and Change Requests in the ticketing system
  • Provide technical support and analysis to resolve customer issues
  • Create and maintain documentation and drawings
  • Execute and analyze packet captures
  • Perform maintenance duties for security platforms that include OS patching and upgrades, verification of dynamic updates and configuration backups
  • Maintain URL and IP based lists and lists
  • Prepare security reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends on security systems and devices

Duties include:
  • Develop, execute, monitor and manage executes project plans, identifies dependencies, identifies and mitigates risk, and resolves project issues.
  • Creates Rough Order of Magnitudes (ROM),activity duration estimates, and cost-benefit analyses
  • ITS team communication
  • Executive Team communication
  • Stakeholder engagement and communication
  • Ensure compliance with internal project management methodology and change control procedures including Sciforma updates
  • ITS PMO team meeting attendance and participation (Weekly)
  • ITS PMO senior staff coordination meeting and participation (Weekly)
  • Inter-departmental coordination and communication for project success SME level consulting guidance and communication strategies
  • Project schedules with milestone deliverables
  • Project cost and budget estimates
  • Project status and performance reports (Weekly, Monthly and Quarterly)
  • Monthly project reports
  • Report risks events, change request w/impact analysis, and issues
  • Meeting minutes and action item logs as needed

Experience :
  • 3+ years of experience in network security
  • Working knowledge of Palo Alto Networks firewalls
  • Working knowledge of various security tools and technologies
  • Working knowledge of networking and system administration for Windows and Linux
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, at all levels inside and outside of the organization
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships inside and outside of the organization
  • Ability to evaluate and recommend preventative and corrective controls to mitigate risk
  • Strong work ethic
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills

Education and Certifications :
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology desirable
  • CISSP, CCNA, CISM, GIAC or Palo Alto PCNSA certification(s) desirable
