DescriptionThe Amazon Aviation Security (AvSec) team is looking for an enthusiastic Aviation Security leader to join the team as the Sr. Program Manager Security Assurance (PMSA). The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a Security Assurance program to monitor all operations functions concerning regulatory compliance, brand protection, conformance to policies & procedures, and effectiveness of controls globally. The PMSA interfaces with individuals of all levels of the AvSec organization, internal customers, and third-party providers to compel continuous improvement of security within Amazon Air (AIR) operations at Amazon.Key job responsibilities Leading the development and implementation of AvSec’s Security Assurance program. Analyzing operational data to prioritize an annual audit schedule Developing assessment checklists using governmental regulations, adopted standards, company policy, and industry best practices Completing evaluations of physical locations, documented programs, mechanisms, and controls Compiling assessment data for presentation to stakeholders and leaders Assisting stakeholders in identifying determining the root cause to identified discrepancies and crafting sustainable and scalable mitigations Serving as an internal consultant to address chronic and endemic non-conformity/compliance Monitoring corrective actions to completion and verification of efficacy Receiving and analyzing data from AvSec’s Security Management Systems (SeMS) and providing inputs to SeMS Assisting with investigations as requiredThe Span of Authority for this role may include span of control between multiple facilities within a geographic region. This will include the hiring and development of team members, supporting operational leadership, managing complex problems, decisions, and escalations, as well as, developing long-term risk mitigation and a path forward in difficult situations.Eligibility Qualifications: This role is regulated by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and may be subject to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) requirements. Successful candidates must, therefore, complete all screenings prescribed by the TSA and the U.S. CBP. Individuals hired into this position will have unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA). For this reason, eligibility for this role will be limited to individuals who pass a security screening, as required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and TSA (as applicable). The successful candidate must be able to travel domestically or internationally up to 75% of the time. This position requires an employee’s full and unimpaired skills and judgment to safely execute their job duties to ensure the safety and security of Amazon AIR personnel, third-party contractors, Airport personnel, cargo, and equipment. This position is therefore designated as a safety sensitive position and is subject to mandatory pre-employment and, where permitted, post-hire drug testing.A day in the lifeAs a PMSA, you will continuously monitor the health and efficacy of Amazon’s AvSec programs. Using a combination of performance data, expert-level knowledge of aviation regulations & standards, and experience, you will identify areas of opportunity and work with process owners to achieve sustainable and scalable solutions. You will rely on data collected by others and yourself, and keep abreast of developments within the company to drive a dynamic schedule focused on addressing the greatest regulatory and brand risks to the business. You will build cooperative relationships with stakeholders and be sought as a resource to evaluate the impact of business changes and new initiatives. You will work with stakeholders across AvSec to execute the program you developed and generate reports and escalations to leaders to ensure regulatory compliance. You will visit operations often to understand the context behind aggregated data and look for risks in outliers and anecdotes that may not manifest in statistical reporting.About the teamThe Amazon AvSec team is responsible for regulatory compliance, security, and loss prevention across Amazon’s aviation operations. Understanding of aviation global regulations and standards (International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), International Air Transport Association (IATA), U.S. and foreign regulatory programs), cargo airline operations, and airport operations. Experience with all Microsoft Office applications.Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in a related field. 7+ years of Aviation Security experience. Experience establishing audit/evaluation programs. International aviation operations. Experience in air cargo operations. Strong leadership skills and knowledge; ability to influence change and drive desired outcomes in a matrixed organization. Ability to independently manage through ambiguity and handle changing priorities, to prioritize, multitask, and exercise good judgment effectively. The base pay for this position ranges from $96,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market.
