Position OverviewInternational is developing leading-edge commercial vehicle solutions to meet the needs of the future for our customers. This position is at the Advanced Technical Center (ATC) in Elmendorf, TX. The Product Validation Department performs testing of International’s future class 4-8 diesel and electric trucks along with school buses.The Electrical Systems and Components Test team performs validation of the electrical and electronic systems of commercial trucks and school buses. International has a need for a Senior Electrical Test Engineer to perform vehicle validation testing and be proficient at creating validation test procedures. This testing will encompass system integration, computer software, serial communication, components, and wiring repair. The testing will be performed on International diesel and electric vehicles and includes vehicles with autonomous driver assist systems.ResponsibilitiesPosition Purpose and Requirements:The Senior Electrical Test Engineer will provide technical and analytical support to the Product Development team. The Electrical Engineer will evaluate new vehicle designs and determine if they meet the customer’s needs as identified through design requirements.Design Test Preparation: Review design information, including Electrical System Implementation/Electrical System Requirements (ESI/ESR). Issue a feedback document (requirement document with comments) to systems engineers for information/documentation defects (necessary information that was omitted) and recommended information/documentation improvements. Review DVP with manager and systems team, incorporate DVP feedback, and will receive manager DVP approval (OKTT) prior to start of test. Store test plans and results in the WRTS system. Keep track and report status of preparation progress. Create test harnesses and instrument a vehicle for testing. Prepare test procedures based on written requirements. Troubleshoot and repair wiring harness defects. Write a work request for mechanical support.Test Execution: Perform functional buck validation as called for by DVP. Perform functional vehicle-level validation as called for by DVP. Problem Solve to Troubleshoot root cause for failures of electric circuits or software.Validation Test Reporting: Report any test failures or anomalies found during Validation testing. Submit any failure or concern to the appropriate Engineer using CAN analyzer, Dewsoft, INCA,SOMAT, or other test data acquisition software. Update WRTS status within 24 hours of completing validation tests.Test Engineer Deliverables:The test engineer will be expected to produce the following deliverables. OK to Test form. Prepare a validation and development test reports document. Test data. Issue reports (Pyxis).Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
At least 2 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
OR
Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

Desired Skills Understanding of SAE J1939 Control Area Network (CAN). Understanding of data acquisition and measurement equipment such as HBM SOMAT, Dewsoft, and /or National Instruments LabVIEW. Use the Cummins InSite/CalTerm tools to read, store, and write ECM and ACM calibrations. Use the Eaton Roadranger service tools to read, store, and write TCM calibrations. Use the Allison service tools to read, store, and write TCM calibrations. Use Bendix Acom service tool. Use Oscilloscope, PicoScope, Digital Voltmeter, and current probes to make measurements.
