Description We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for an Accounting Specialist in Houston, Texas. The role involves a blend of office and remote work, with a focus on maintaining and improving financial processes within our organization. Responsibilities: Efficiently processing customer credit applications and maintaining accurate records. Regularly monitoring customer accounts and taking necessary actions as required. Using Bottomline software for processing and distributing checks on a daily basis. Ensuring accuracy by balancing check registers against batch status reports. Preparing checks for various modes of mailing, including certified regular FedEx and delivery to the mailroom. Handling special requests associated with outgoing checks and processing same-day check requests as needed. Conducting check cancellations and Do Not Mail requests when necessary. Overseeing monthly check processing, including printing checks and matching with attachments and certified requests. Maintaining all check stuffing and printing equipment, including check stock, toner, and envelopes for daily use. Archiving check-related data and running payment program function for electronic payments. Addressing payment failures due to incorrect banking information, incorrect currency, incorrect payment method, payment refusal, or unknown issues received from the banks. Researching and resolving payment issues, as well as recommending and evaluating improvements in areas of responsibility. Reviewing and analysing each electronic payment wire/ACH before processing for approval, coding, or Purchase Order Vendor setup and banking and currency. Troubleshooting all issues related to wires and foreign payments, and processing payments for wires, ACH, and foreign currency using a variety of systems. Recording all payments made in outside systems, ensuring the invoice is cleared against the bank account in which it was debited. Facilitating the set-up of new EFT tax payments accounts prior to payment and forecasting all payments made from Chemicals' bank accounts. Reconciling the Bank Confirmation Reports to the Payment Registers for all Wires and ACH transactions transmitted from both SAP systems. Identifying all rejected or returned ACH/Wire payments and initiating the process for reprocessing. Collaborating with the Treasury Department related to any ACH/Wire payments. Requirements Must possess strong communication and leadership skills, with an emphasis on collaboration and team-building. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Experience with invoice and payment processing, ensuring accurate and timely transactions. Capable of conducting detailed research and analysis to assist in decision-making. Familiarity with supervisory roles and responsibilities, ideally in an accounting setting. Proficiency with 'About Time' software or similar time management tools. Experience in performing reconciliations and working with vendors. Ability to process checks accurately and efficiently. Problem-solving aptitude to troubleshoot issues and implement effective solutions. Knowledge of tax accounting principles and practices. Ability to send and confirm purchase orders in a timely and accurate manner. Understanding of consumer electronics industry is a plus. Familiarity with coding principles and practices, ideally in an accounting context. Knowledge of tax laws and regulations. Experience with video conferencing tools for remote collaboration. Ability to handle printing tasks as required by the role.
