Description We are offering an exciting opportunity in the retail and wholesale industry for a detail-oriented Assistant Controller to be based in Houston, Texas. The role involves overseeing all accounting functions, preparing accurate financial reports, and ensuring the timely processing of transactions. This position will also contribute to enhancing internal controls, facilitating budgeting and forecasting processes, and ensuring compliance with relevant state and federal government regulations.Responsibilities: Oversee all accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Cash Management, and Revenue Recognition Prepare and submit accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to management Ensure accurate and timely processing of all transactions, including payroll Maintain efficient internal controls and coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with standard procedures and policies Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions when necessary Facilitate the budgeting and forecasting processes, analyze financial variances and engage in financial planning Keep up with tax regulations and prepare tax returns promptly, ensure reporting compliance with all relevant state and federal government regulations Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors and manage preparation and support of all external audits Perform ad-hoc analysis and projects as requested Utilize Full Cycle Accounting and Power BI skills to prepare financial statements Requirements Must have at least 3 years of experience in an Assistant Controller role or similar Proficiency in Full Cycle Accounting is required Experience with Power BI is necessary Ability to prepare and analyze financial statements is essential Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is a plus Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are needed Must have strong organizational and multitasking abilities Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel Familiarity with accounting software and systems is necessary Must have a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Experience in a leadership or supervisory role is preferred Ability to work collaboratively with various teams and departments Must have a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
