DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAssists in the coordination, planning, and administration of various design and/or construction contracts, permits and projects to ensure delivery within prescribed scope of work and budgetary and time constraints.Requirements/Duties

Assist in the coordination and oversight of activities associated with CIP projects performed by consultants, construction personnel, technical professionals, other COH departments and governmental agencies to provide project support and attain project completion.

Assist in preparing and evaluating processes and procedures to ensure project goals are achieved. Provides technical solutions to challenges encountered during construction or design activities.

Assist in reviewing project costs, construction scheduling, and developing project scope of work.

Assist in reviewing project contracts, construction and design drawings, documents, and review plans and specifications.

Conduct site investigations and inspections to ensure project scopes and specifications are attained. Documents scope/inspection results by completing reports and logs, summarizes additional work/waste.

Attend various project meetings.

Performs other duties as required.

WORKING CONDITIONSThis position requires stooping, bending and/or lifting of items (up to 30 pounds) and/or occasional periods of walking on rough surfaces. Occasional minor discomforts from exposure to less-than optimal temperature and air conditions. This is a Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier III level. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTSRequires a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, Project Management or a closely related field based on the responsibilities of the position.
