Director, Career ServicesDescriptionThe Director of Career Services at the University of Houston Clear Lake is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to enhance students' career development and job placement opportunities to support student success. This role involves overseeing the delivery of comprehensive career services, cultivating partnerships with employers and community organizations, and collaborating with campus departments and colleges to integrate career readiness initiatives into the student experience.Duties:

Provides leadership, strategic vision, organization and administrative oversight of the Career Services functional/program areas. Directs the development and implementation of innovative career services and programs, career counseling and consultations, workshops and professional development, employer relations, partnerships and opportunities, career fairs and recruitment events to enhance student engagement and student success. Stays current with trends and innovations in career services.

Leads and manages the career services team. Provides direction and guidance in the hiring, training, development, supervision, and evaluation of support and professional staff members and student employees for all functional areas of the unit. Includes seasonal interns or practicum students.

Develops a career services strategic plan that articulates short- and long-range plans which collaboratively builds a university-wide culture of early career development, intentional career readiness, ongoing occupational wellness, and employment success for students while also scaling operations, programs, opportunities, and outcomes of the department.

Collaborates across campus with Departments, Units, and Colleges to build partnerships for embedding career readiness competencies, internships, career counseling, career development programs, and career preparation into the curricular and co-curricular student experience at the university.

Cultivates and maintains relationships with employers, alumni, and industry partners to create career opportunities for students. Serves as a primary liaison between the university and employers at the state, regional, national, and international level focused on developing pipelines and partnerships for students and their future career opportunities.

Utilizes data analytics and assessment tools to evaluate the effectiveness of career services programs and make data-driven decisions for continuous improvement. Develops and implements data collection methods for gathering and measuring information on career-based variables of interest to the university including the career readiness and employment success of students and alumni as well as feedback from employers and faculty/staff.

Provides leadership in leveraging technology and online platforms to enhance career services delivery and reach a broader student population. Oversees the unit content of graphics and promotional materials, including brochures, posters, digital content, and other marketing that effectively convey the value career services and engagement of students.

Provides administrative oversight of unit planning, budgeting, and assessment to ensure unit aligns with division and institution strategic goals. Partners with University Advancement, Strategic Partnerships, and the Office of Sponsored Programs to develop external funding opportunities and community and employer partnerships which support the unit mission and UHCL mission.

Serves on university and divisional level committees, advisory boards, as well as attends community meetings and programs supporting efforts in developing co-curricular experiences aimed at enhancing career services for students and the UHCL community. Performs related duties as assigned.

QualificationsRequired:

Master's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Educational Leadership or related field.

Minimum five years of full-time experience.

Experience supervising full time employees.

Knowledge of foundational student development theory and student affairs models.

Organizational and management skills including budget management, planning, assessment, and effective marketing.

Knowledge of student engagement and career services products and platforms.

Skills in planning and implementing initiatives within the unit and campus wide.

Skills in Peoplesoft (Student Information Systems) data management for platforms.

Skills in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and technology systems.

Ability to build and sustain relationships with campus community members and to effectively communicate using various methods.

Ability to solve problems of various levels with all campus constituents, community leaders, and employers.

Ability to manage time and juggle multiple priorities within the unit.
