Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for an Insurance Authorization Coordinator in Houston, Texas. The role is in the healthcare industry and involves liaising between insurance companies and physician's offices, verifying insurance eligibility, benefits, and obtaining pre-authorizations for procedures, diagnostic testing, and office visits. Responsibilities: Facilitate prior authorizations for all procedural orders by effectively completing the authorization process with commercial payers Act as a bridge between insurance companies and physician's offices to ensure smooth communication Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for office visits, outpatient tests, surgery, and inpatient admissions Endeavor to procure and document in the computer system referral details and modifications for specialty care and testing for patients with insurance plans requiring formal referral documentation Secure and document in the computer system the precertification/preauthorization number from insurance companies prior to each surgical procedure and diagnostic test Assist patients in scheduling new patient office visits Generate and distribute the Inpatient and Outpatient Service Lists and manifests to surgeons and consultants Ensure all fields within the computer system are completed accurately to process claims and reroute claims to the billing department within the assigned deadline Rectify any account errors within the assigned deadline Maintain constant communication between the physician, insurance company, and team regarding patient authorization status. Requirements Proficiency in answering inbound calls and handling customer queries. Experience in insurance authorizations and preauthorization procedures. Familiarity with billing functions and claim administration. Knowledge of medical insurance policies and medical insurance verification procedures. Ability to verify insurance eligibility and patient eligibility. Experience in eligibility verification processes. Proficiency in handling precertification tasks. Strong understanding of the medical insurance industry. Capable of multitasking and prioritizing tasks. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in using relevant software and computer systems. Willingness to continuously update knowledge about insurance policies and procedures.
