The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston is one of the world's most respected centers focused on cancer patient care, research, education and prevention. It is one of the nation's original three comprehensive cancer centers designated by the National Cancer Institute.Shifts are 2-12/hour shifts from 7pm-7am and 2-8/hour shifts 3pm-11pm and/or 11pm-7am rotating weekends and holidays.P12A is a 32-bed inpatient unit providing care to medical oncology inpatients with a diagnosis of solid tumor malignancies; primary services include genitourinary, breast, and internal medicine. Patients require nursing interventions for the management of chronic and acute disease related symptoms, pain control, and treatment related side effects; the administration of chemotherapy, bio immunotherapy and targeted therapy; and patient and family teaching. They serve a mainly adult population (20-60 years).Acts as member of a multidisciplinary team that identifies and addresses patient care needs. Assists in completion of activities of daily living, mobilization, admit/discharge and obtaining vital signs. Updates and retrieves patient information. Ensures patient environment is maintained in a clean, safe and orderly manner. Acts as part of an assigned care team.EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
