Postdoctoral Fellow - Imaging Physics - Dr. Taylor's Lab

Under the mentorship of Dr. Brian A. Taylor, the postdoctoral fellow in this program will receive extensive training in diffusion magnetic resonance (MR) imaging for the purposes of image-guided therapy, particularly in neurosurgery. This will include an introduction to magnetic resonance physics and protocol optimization related to diffusion MR. A focus of the research will be developing advanced post-processing techniques to identify functional white matter tracts that are important to identify in the surgical planning process. The fellow will work closely with neurosurgery faculty in a research (non-clinical) role. The fellow will also participate in grant writing exercises and training to help start their career in academic research. The primary mentor will be an MR physicist in the Department of Imaging Physics with expertise in this area of research. The primary mentor will also recruit co-mentors in the Departments of Imaging Physics, Neurosurgery, and Neuroradiology to assist in the fellow's comprehensive training.LEARNING OBJECTIVES-An increased knowledge of magnetic resonance physics, particularly in neuroimaging.-MR acquisition strategies for improved performance for neurosurgical applications.-Advanced post-processing techniques for MR-guided interventions for neurosurgery.ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTSAn individual holding a recent (within three years) Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., Sc.D., M.D., D.V.M.) in an appropriate field who is seeking a temporary appointment, under the supervision of a faculty mentor, involving full-time laboratory-based research or scholarship in preparation for an academic or research career as an independent investigator. This appointment is not part of a clinical training program; individuals holding an M.D. degree or equivalent are not permitted to engage in patient care activity.ADDITIONAL APPLICATION INFORMATIONhttps://www.mdanderson.org/research/departments-labs-institutes/departments-divisions/imaging-physics.htmlhttps://faculty.mdanderson.org/profiles/briantaylor.htmlPOSITION INFORMATIONMD Anderson offers full-time postdoc positions with a salary ranging from $64,000 to $76,000 (https://trainees.mdanderson.org/apply/mdaPostdoctoralFellowStipendFY24.pdf) . depending on the number of years of postgraduate experience.
