The Internal Medicine division provides cancer patients with the full spectrum of evidence-based cancer and internal medicine diagnostic evaluations, treatments, supportive care and prevention.Our goal is to continually expand our lead as a patient-centered, research-driven internal medicine division in a comprehensive cancer center through the recruitment, retention and development of the finest physicians, scientists, educators and staff.Plans and oversees initiatives, interactions, and activities related to the STAT3 Program (60%)Responsible for the overall administrative and financial management of the STAT3 Program.Serve as a primary contact for the STAT3 Program Administrator concerning implementing policy changes and the resolution of the grant related issues.Participates in the STAT3 program team, interacting with NCI program staff and other collaborators to include zoom meetings, email correspondence, and virtual attendance at the monthly meeting with NCI.Attend all monthly STAT3 program meetings.Prepares and distributes monthly financial reports to key STAT3 program stakeholders.Coordinates and prepares meeting agendas for the all STAT3 program meetings.Identifies and implements strategies to enhance investigator collaboration and interchange between the STAT3 project investigators.Initiates the administrative planning and grant development for the competitive renewal and non-competing progress report submissions.Maintains familiarity with agency submission forms and requirements. Provides ongoing information concerning changes in agency policy, institutional and divisional initiatives, etc., to STAT3 leaders and investigators.Request necessary updates from investigators and establishes timelines to ensure prompt submission of necessary materials in a timely manner.Ensure that the information collected is accurate, reflects the requested information, and is provided in accordance with specified guidelines.Proactively identify and solve grant related issues and maintain internal control systems to measure effectiveness of the grant processResponsible for administrative management of programmatic grants and effort across a large collaborative STAT3 program (20%)Provides administrative planning for grant initiatives for the STAT3 program (grants includes multiple projects and clinical trials, external and internal activities). Provides comprehensive management for all aspects of the grant STAT3 portfolio. Manages funds and fund allocation across multiple projects and review of reports appropriately.Works closely with the STAT3 laboratory to ensure appropriateness and accuracy of expenditures on designated chartfield strings.Notifies the Principal Investigator and Associate Director, Research Planning & Development of any discrepancies and adjusts as necessary and prepares the appropriate supporting documentation to RSSM Research Finance team or central offices.Works closely with the Associate Director, Research Planning & Development and Grant Program Manager on special projects/reports such as Fund mapping projects, Sponsored Project deficit projections, Private Industry closures, etc.Receives 90, 60, and 30 day Award Closeout Notifications from Grants and Contracts Accounting and works with administrative staff and faculty to ensure all salaries are removed, encumbrances cleared and expenditures stopped.Serves as a resource in acquiring important grant information through privileged systems including, Click Grants, RCTS, PeopleSoft, NIH eRA Commons, NIH Reporter.Manages the effort reporting process within the STAT3 program for faculty and staff. Stays abreast of changes affecting effort reporting and communicates pertinent information to the faculty and management.Monitors personnel expenses across all STAT3 grants and coordinates effort and needed ePAFs with collaborating departments.Responsible for financial oversite (20%)Reviews designated grants and research program grants, as identified by the Associate Director, Research Planning & Development, on a monthly basis, to verify accuracy, resolve errors, and ensure adherence with institution, state, local, and federal regulations.Reviews RSSM Monthly reports to include expenses for purchases made or services performed related to the STAT3 program.EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree.EXPERIENCE: Five years related experience to include three years program management experience.
