Position ProfileWe are seeking a candidate who is knowledgeable and progressive in applying their technical and project management skills to projects that range from working on new and exciting energy transition projects, developing sustainable and improved supply chains for existing industrial sites, and redeveloping brownfield sites. This person wants to be challenged to continue learning and adjust rapidly to changing conditions easily. You will work within our Industry Market helping our clients with a variety of civil, environmental, supply chain, and permitting projects.You will directly with clients to define the requirements of a project, help develop innovative solutions to challenging problems, present a project plan that will meet their goals, and then lead a team to successful delivery of the project requirements.You are able to define the technical requirements and perform management of multi-disciplined projects. This will include exercising client relationships; coordination with Practice areas and leading the technical team; managing project scopes, budgets, and deliverables; and controlling the risk, health and quality on a project.A solid understanding of multiple technical disciplines is a plus, but not mandatory. Disciplines our projects include are civil, structural, storm water, transportation, surveying, permitting, environmental compliance, etc. There will be coordination with Practice Areas and subcontractors to obtain appropriate resources for the project.The job generally requires some overtime hours, especially around end-of-month accounting deadlines and when there are overlapping project schedules.Candidate could work remotely from anywhere in Texas as long as willing to travel to Houston and Corpus Christi as needed.Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:A Project Manager (PM) position precedes the Senior Project Manager positions at Hanson. PMs typically manage smaller, less complex, and/or single technical discipline projects and may assist Senior Project Managers with their projects.A project manager is responsible for the planning, organizing, directing, executing, and controlling/monitoring of the scope of services, budget, schedule, deliverables, and resources to accomplish the project objectives in a profitable manner for Hanson while meeting the clients’ objectives for the project. Additionally, the PM’ technical ability must be adequate to understand the client’s needs, and ensure the various Practice Areas are providing technically defensible deliverables that satisfies those needs.The responsibilities of the Project Manager (PM) include:

Implement a culture of safety, quality, and collaboration on projects.

Meet with clients and others to define deliverables into discrete work tasks and delegate to technical staff.

Understand project scope, budget and schedule and develop work plans to accomplish scope to meet project objectives and profitability.

Utilize the change management process to adjust budget, schedule and deliverables based on changed project conditions or scope.

Identify necessary skills and assign individuals to perform work on a project in collaborate with Practice Areas.

Manage technical staff to successfully complete deliverables on schedule and budget.

Assist in preparing project contractual documents with clients, agencies, subcontractors, and others as required.

Prepare agendas; lead project meetings in reviewing progress, budget, and schedule; write minutes and action items; and follow up on issue resolution.

Utilize existing processes to control project scope, identify issues and problems, communicate with client and internal project members, and provide summary reports of project progress.

Prepare deliverables in format required by project and submit to client.

Attend meetings at client offices and at project sites as required.

Review engineering plans and documents to ensure they satisfy the client’s needs.

Other duties as required by project or client.

Qualifications Technical Skills:

Demonstrated knowledge of project controls, accounting, and scheduling processes.

Demonstrated ability to break a project scope of work in finite deliverables or work breakdown structure.

Demonstrated ability to identify out of scope work, document it, and develop change orders.

Demonstrated ability to clearly and concisely convey information in client, agency, and internal communications.

Ability to manage others in the development and successful completion of deliverables.

Ability to utilize, and improve, project control, contractual, and communication tools.

Ability to develop winning proposals and budgets for new work.

Demonstrate understanding of earned value methodology, project accounting, schedule development, and updating of these on a periodic basis.

Demonstrated ability to prepare project meeting agendas, conduct meetings, preparing meeting minutes, develop action items, and show project progress through organized minutes and action item conclusion.

Demonstrated commitment to quality assurance and controls, by scheduling appropriate review tasks and timeframes

Demonstrates understanding of billing, accounts payable, and accounts receivables procedures.

Soft Skills:

Must be committed to a continual learning environment where skills development through new challenges will be constantly emphasized.

Must be able to work in an environment where determining the profitability of a project requires balancing the constantly changing priorities of clients, project deliverables, and staffing

Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing technical concepts to engineers, clients, and public stakeholders.

Must be able to build effective relationships with internal and external client bases.

Must be able to work independently, as well as a team member, to resolve issues while learning new technical skills.

Must have proven ability to comfortably speak publicly and interact positively with clients, regulatory agencies, and contractors.

Interest in variety of assignments.

Must be able to remotely collaborate and manage staff in other offices

Must be willing to accept up to 40% out-of-town travel assignments

Must be willing and able to work overtime to meet project demands and deadlines

Education/Experience:

Degree in Engineering, natural science or other discipline with the ability to understand the technical requirement of the project; graduate degree preferred.

10-15 years’ experience in technical task management or acting as an assistant project manger

Familiarity with collaboration and time management software tools ( SmartSheet, iAccess, Vision Resource/Project Planning) or ability to learn them

Experience with project process workflow

Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) a plus

Advanced time management and analytical skills

Proficient knowledge and demonstrated ability to utilize Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, Visio, and Project

Excellent project team and client-facing communication skills
