The primary purpose of the Research Scientist is to fully participate in cutting-edge science and applying analytical expertise and experience to plan, coordinate, design and carry out research project(s). We are seeking a highly motivated enthusiastic person to perform scRNASeq and Spatial Transcriptomics assays as well as willing to learn new technologies and participates in developing new platforms.The ideal candidate will have a background in Molecular Biology Techniques and Next Generation Sequencing (NGS).KEY FUNCTIONSParticipate in scientific research projects:A. Technical Competencies

Independently perform all aspects of the experiments, which may include, NA Extraction and QC, Library Preps, Hybridization/Capture, and sequencing.

Independently perform scRNASeq and Spatial Transcriptomics techniques.

Prepare nucleic acid QC reports & sequencing coverage summaries and submit for manager review.

Under the supervision of the Laboratory manager, evaluate new techniques/reagents and learning new skills to enhance research efforts.

Use LIMS system (MOCLIA) and generate multiple reports as needed.

Participate in laboratory automation.

Plan and train other laboratory personnel on new laboratory techniques, the use of laboratory equipment, and safety procedures.

Monitor and anticipate laboratory inventory in terms of equipment and supplies.

Maintain good, detailed experimental records, evaluate resulting research data, and present findings.

Prepare scientific documents for publication.

Responsible for overall laboratory safety to pass yearly laboratory safety inspection by MDACC Environmental Health and Safety.

Attends weekly lab meetings and take notes.

Work closely and maintain good working relationship with other staff members.

Other duties as assigned.

B. Data Analysis Competencies:

Perform sequencing data de-multiplexing and generating the fastq and bam files.

Perform TMB, CNVs, MSI analysis.

Generate and review sequencing QC metrics.

Perform scRNASeq data analysis and generate web summaries.

Help in evaluating/validating new NGS platforms by assessing their data accuracy, precision and LODs.

Perform other correlative studies as needed.

  • The Yee Laboratory at MD Anderson Cancer Center focuses on research to understand human T cell biology, anti-tumor immunity, and the development of translational strategies using TCR-based cellular therapies. This position will support the scientific needs of the Immunopeptidome discovery pipeline within the STRIDE Program for TCR-Based Therapeutics (ProTCT). The ultimate goal of ProTCT is to deliver novel T cell-based treatment modalities for advanced cancers, investigate T cell based-responses across the IO spectrum and contribute to MD Anderson\'s mission to make Cancer History.

  • The Institute Senior Research Scientist participates in cross-functional research to identify and validate novel oncology targets, and applies deep biological insights to then translate these findings into novel oncology therapeutic agents to benefit patients.
