The mission of The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public.The primary responsibilities of this position are to provide support in maintaining and integrating business solutions' technology into the curriculum within the School of Health Professions and the Division of Education and Training to provide information on current best practices, innovations, and emerging trends. This professional will maintain awareness of best practices, emerging technologies, and new potentials in educational technology while supporting users in multi-platform environments. This role will be instrumental in the process of assessing, vetting, and onboarding new tools, as well as identifying and setting priorities with vendor partners and outside organizations.This role will partner with individuals, departments, programs, and colleges to support teaching and learning initiatives within the School of Health Professions and the Division of Education and Training. It will require a collaborative, patient, detail-oriented individual who's familiar with educational technology, instructional design, and pedagogical best practices.JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIESEducation Business Solutions Administration (45%) Provide support and technical consulting for applications within the School of Health Professions such as Canvas, Study, Zoom, Panopto, SmartZoom, and the many education business solution tools available within the division. Support the many third-party tools used by remote, online, hybrid, and classroom based courses and programs within the School of Health Professions, Business Solutions, and the institution. In partnership with the Director of Education and Training Business Solutions and the School of Health Professions leadership team, collaborate with instructional design staff to create, organize, and schedule events that will engage faculty and stakeholders in adopting and using technology to create increased teaching and/or learning effectiveness and/or efficiency. Coordinates and interfaces with vendors, technical, and operations personnel for problem resolution, efficiency improvements, and implementation of new systems. Handle support and technical inquiries escalated from 4info. Recommend hardware, software, and other necessary resources to support selected educational technology. Advocate for product improvements, on behalf of the division, to vendor partners based on stakeholder feedback. Identify educational technology needs, barriers, and weaknesses; develop, organize, and implement solutions for students, faculty, staff, and administrators.Education Business Solutions Accreditation Process (45%) Provide system administration and support, including responsibilities such as, but not limited to, creating user accounts, troubleshooting bugs, communicating outages, and coordinating upgrades for the business solutions technology within the Division of Education and Training and the School of Health Professions-liaison between specialists and internal development/tech teams in Academic Analytics & Tech. Upgrade applications when necessary by working with vendors to acquire newly released software. Support performance tuning, testing, and verification of business solutions applications. Enforce application standards, best practices, and tool usage (as defined by the vendor). Support and maintain the infrastructure of business solutions applications. Work closely with functional business areas to discover opportunities for application and process improvement of business solutions and the School of Health Professions applications. Provide expertise and guidance regarding the latest data science technologies, including but not limited to server, cloud-based, and distributed computing paradigms for Business Solutions and School of Health Professions applications, i.e. Canvas, Slate, SmartZoom, Panopto, CloudCME, etc. Analyze requests for new and/or modifications to existing education and training programs/reports to determine compatibility with current systems. Develop and maintain comprehensive online documentation for all supported tools and technologies. Track, communicate, coordinate, train, implement, and maintain system (Canvas, Study, Slate, etc.) enhancements as required to all affected business units and end-users. Serve as subject matter expert in development trends, training tools, and learning platforms.Other (10%) Multimedia and web-based interactive interfaces - Works with clients to plan and design interfaces for various multimedia and educational products. Video Editing and Animations - Consult with clients and departmental staff about effective methods for video editing and animation use within the learning management systems. Provides technical support and may provide operational workflow knowledge for implementing and maintaining the learning management systems (LMS) within the School of Health Professions and Business Solutions. Craft a quarterly education business solutions newsletter to convey updates, tips, and other newsworthy highlights. Other duties as assigned.EDUCATION:Required: Bachelor's degree in related field.Preferred: Master's Degree in a related fieldExperienceRequired: Five years of experience with enterprise-level learning management systems. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.Preferred Qualifications: Five years of experience directly related to the functions and responsibilities specified.o Enterprise-level learning management system, maintenance, and support experience. Experience can be substituted for education requirements.o Knowledge of Student Information Systems. o Experience with Canvas LMS. Knowledge of API's and LTI.o Understanding of CSS, JavaScript, and Web Conferencing Software, such as Zoom and Teams.o Expertise in Windows, Apple hardware, Mac OS and iOS software, and MS Office Suite for Educationo Knowledge of cloud-based and traditional hosting options. Qualified candidates will have teaching experience or experience working in an adult education environment. Broad general knowledge of curriculum, curriculum development, and instructional best practices. Experience delivering professional development to educators and knowledge of best practices in adult learning. Knowledge of cloud-based and traditional hosting options. Familiarity with ADA 508 compliance requirements for websites. Hands-on Java Experience. Strong JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and UI development experience.
