Vice President of Marketing Communications

As the Vice President of Marketing Communications its a critical leadership role and new position at the Houston Area Womens Center (HAWC). This position is responsible for managing the marketing communications department, its operations, and staff to ensure all communications channels are leveraged to disseminate organizational information and key messages to promote and enhance brand awareness. The Vice President will develop strategies, monitor the effectiveness of projects and campaigns, and identify opportunities to support revenue.This position will lead the collaboration with internal stakeholders for department support of Programs, HR, and Development, have a passion for storytelling, social media, media relations, and project management. At HAWC, we work on the frontlines with survivors to build a safer community. There are stories throughout the organization, and they need telling. Survivors are at the heart of what we do, and we need a passionate marketing communications leader to help build awareness, inspiration, and motivation about the HAWC brand and mission.HAWC has a dedicated and lean marketing communications team, meaning you will often be in the trenches, whether updating the website, creating social media posts and videos, organizing media events, or responding to media inquiries.Your Schedule:

Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. - 6:000 p.m.

Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed

Hybrid schedule will have planned office days

Our Total Compensation Package:

Annual Salary: $135,000.00

Pay schedule: semi-monthly

Bachelors degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or other job-related field. Masters degree preferred.

minimum of 12 years of professional marketing communications experience (agency, corporate, or nonprofit), including brand management, digital marketing, media relations, and website/social channel management in addition to the technology applications and tools to support these functions.

A minimum of 5 years of experience managing performers in a formal or informal structure, with a record of progressively responsible positions.

Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams).

Working knowledge of Canva, Adobe, WordPress, Hootsuite, etc.

Computer savvy and able to learn new applications and systems quickly.

Texas drivers license with a good driving record; reliable transportation; ability to travel to off-site locations utilizing personal transportation.

What you Deliver in this role:

Strategic Planning:

Partner with the Chief Advancement and Public Strategies Officer (CAPSO) to develop strategic plans to support visibility, awareness, and revenue goals.

Media Relations:

Develop a reactive nd proactive strategy to maintain strong relationships with local and national media ensuring consistent and accurate coverage of HAWCs mission, vision, identity, programs, and needs.

Ensure the effective management of media contacts, distribution lists, tracking and coverage reports.

Internal Communications:

Create an effective and efficient internal communications strategy to support executive, employee, operational news, and issue-driven messaging to ensure staff are aligned with the organization's mission, vision, and goals.

Ensure standards are set for responding to external inquiries and HAWC website inboxes.

Content Development:

Ensure strategic and high-impact content is developed to inform various channels including websites, press releases, social media, op-eds, and internal communications.

Digital Marketing/Digital Platforms:

Oversee all social media channels and email marketing implementing strategies to increase engagement by creating high-impact content and social campaigns (organic and paid), reviewing performance, and leveraging analytics.

Develop performance reports of social media, email marketing, and web traffic effectiveness with analysis to drive decisions, budget, and impact.

Account Management

Lead the collaboration with various internal departments, such as HR and Programs, and external stakeholders and strategic partners with marketing communications solutions as needed.

Collaboration with Development Department

Lead collaboration with and support of colleagues with fundraising campaigns and special events, digital and print collateral, and various marketing communications activities.

Provide department with thoughtful and relevant information to share with internal and external constituents, as appropriate, to effectively share HAWCs story and for increased engagement and giving.

Brand Management

Manage the HAWC Brand internally and externally: all aspects of the visual identity, messaging, and positioning. Oversee the production and design of HAWC collateral, such as brochures, social/digital graphics, flyers, banners, development appeals, annual reports, promotional and marketing items, and special event needs.

Team Leadership

Ability to review the work product of others to ensure conformance standards and frequently provide constructive feedback, when appropriate.

Support and coach managers in tactical/day-to-day oversight of the content calendar to inform social media channels, eblasts, and awareness month planning, etc.

Share and institute regular training and professional development opportunities.

Maintain a strong knowledge of Houston Area Womens Center programs and services.

Department Administration

Ensure all marketing communications applications, software subscriptions, department vendors, and data are tracked and managed.

Create a reliable system to manage HAWC assets, labeling, and storage of photography, images, graphics, video, and b-roll.

Ensure all distribution lists are updated and managed.

Lead the planning of internal meetings and work sessions.

Other duties may be assigned.
