Work is performed under standard supervision in accordance with established policies and procedures.Administer regulations regarding academic program requirements set forth by the department and ABET requirement. Comply with TTU policies, procedures, and safety rules. Keep advising office open on a regular basis. Maintain files; advise students of their progress toward a mechanical engineering degree plan or the completion of a mechanical engineering degree plan. Compare degree requirements and content of courses offered with those of other colleges and universities. Keep all data/information updated for next ABET review. Perform duties of add/drops, registration, and instructor verification for department. Counsel students concerning course requirements, declaration of majors, transfers, grade point requirement, course substitutions, probation and/or suspension. Assist with student orientations, prepare & explain advising materials. Assist in preparation and maintenance of undergraduate student orientation materials, workshops, and seminars for the college. Represent the department in undergraduate orientation and advisor meetings on campus and in the college. Schedule courses; coordinate student preregistration; support student organizations and services. Maintain current files on enrollment and retention data. Monitor deficient grades; maintain files on grade changes. Assist the department's undergraduate director, monitor satisfaction of curricular requirements, assist with classroom scheduling, assist with record keeping and data management related to the ME program. Interact with alumni & industry representatives for student employment opportunities. Assist in exit interview process from undergraduate students. Coordinate undergraduate student recruitment program for the department. The Department is ranked in the top 25 in producing B.S.M.E. graduates (a total of 274 schools reported) according to ASEE. In 2022-2023 academic year, the Department awarded 253 undergraduate degrees, 32 MS degrees, and 15 PhD degrees. In Fall 2023, the Department enrollment includes 145 graduate students and 641 undergraduate students who have met the requirements and been accepted to the ME program. In addition, another 873 first-year undergraduate students have their concentration set for ME and are working to complete the required foundational coursework/GPA requirements.
