Microsoft’s Cloud Operations and Innovation Organization is looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager, Datacenter Hardware and Infrastructure for the CTO Office. This role will enable the next generation Specialty Computing & Artificial Intelligence (AI) at scale for datacenter operations. This position will require effective program management & cross-organizational collaboration with planning, supply chain, hardware engineering, data center design and data center operations organizations. The candidate will enable mechanical, networking, power, and cooling technologies to result in improved uptime for our customers and a lower cost of operations. We seek an experienced Technical Program Manager, ideally with a technical background in datacenter critical environments (power, cooling, energy, etc), who can distill the needs of our internal business partners and work with subject matter experts (SME) to ensure those requirements are met. The ideal candidate has experience leading complex server hardware, datacenter infrastructure or process initiatives to ensure a highly functioning cross-functional collaboration and solve technical and non-technical challenges. This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Washington, D.C., Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ.
Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates will need to relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location.
This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to 100%.
Responsibilities
Innovative problem solving and process improvements to shorten the time for new hardware technology deployment in Microsoft datacenters
Lead for specific cloud data center program and technology deployment.
Responsible for overall program planning, strategy, and schedule, being the single voice of the program through implementation.
Lead a virtual team of technical subject matter experts, Datacenter Design Engineers, Supply Chain, Datacenter Operations and Tooling.
Have an in-depth understanding of the product technical requirements, milestones,deliverables and interdependencies for establishingan accurate and effective project infrastructure.
Lay out detailed critical path plans and schedules, actively manage the required tasks and establish risk mitigation plans to avoid impact in the event implementation delay occurs.
Develop and drive requirements to scale the solution(s) in datacenters.
Apply critical thinking and engineering skills to solve problems, fill gaps and achieve objectives through the cross functional team.Develop, execute, and track OKRs.
Responsible for effective communication and escalation of risks and dependencies between teams while ensuring timely decisions are being made.
Lead discussions with senior management to align on business strategies & solve blocking issues.
Work independently through ambiguoussituations & drive clarity.
Lead cross functional alignment: generating clarity, tracking towards release milestones and overall readiness for all new Datacenter infrastructure deployments.
Use program management tools and communication methods to ensure common understanding of program plan of record to stakeholders.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years' experience in engineering, technical program management, or product development
OR equivalent experience.
2+ years' experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
2+ years' experience working in Cloud Datacenter, Hardware, Networking and/or Supply Chain Operations
Other Requirements:Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of cloud service provider (CSP) datacenter and server technologies
Ability to build relationships and influence in a matrix organization.
Understanding of program management and product release methodologies
Proven ability to multi-task and work independently to drive business results.
Knowledge of datacenter processes and technology
Launching and scaling new technology
Ability and interest in operating in technical domains and environments that have ambiguity.
Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
