That’s where you come in.We are looking for a Part-Time/ Casual Phlebotomist to join the UTHealth School of Public Health in Houston, TX. This position will support a project providing viral hepatitis B and C education, screening, vaccination, and treatment to individuals with experiences of, or at risk for, homelessness. Position Summary:Collects and processes blood specimens under the direction of a nurse, principal investigator, or provider.Position Key Accountabilities:

Handles specimens and maintains laboratory according to clinical guidelines.

Maintains specimen integrity for transport to lab or point of care testing location.

Prepares and ships specimens to core laboratories for processing.

In research settings, this position may also:

Screen patients’ located at various housing sites for eligibility into various research protocols.

Interview eligible patients and invite them to participate by obtaining informed consent.

Conduct interviews; collect, identify, and process blood samples according to research protocol guideline.

Input data into database for research protocols.

Communicates study participants questions or concerns to the principal investigator or research nurse.

Maintains regulatory files under the direction of the research nurse.

Other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Knowledge of MS Office applications; bilingual in Spanish is preferred; phlebotomy certification from a national accredited organization is preferred.

Minimum Education / Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a specialized phlebotomy training program is preferred.
