Description A client of ours in the homebuilding and construction industry is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team on a contract to hire basis. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for supporting various accounting functions within the finance department, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This role is in-office from Monday through Friday from 8-5. Please apply today for immediate consideration! Key Responsibilities:

General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including journal entries and account reconciliations.

Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process vendor invoices, prepare payments, and reconcile accounts payable transactions. Generate customer invoices, monitor accounts receivable aging, and follow up on overdue accounts.

Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Provide support for audits and reviews by external auditors.

Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts. Monitor budget variances and provide analysis to management.

Fixed Assets: Maintain fixed asset records, including depreciation schedules and asset tracking.

Tax Compliance: Assist with sales tax filings and other tax compliance requirements as necessary.

Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency enhancements within the accounting function.

Ad Hoc Projects: Support special projects and initiatives as assigned by management.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.

Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction or related industry.

Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, etc.).

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.

Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
