Job Description:This position functions as both a Patient Care Tech (PCT) and Health Unit Coordinator (HUC). A Patient Care Tech functions as a clinical support partner assisting the patient care team by performing various tasks and procedures as instructed by a licensed professional. A Health Unit Coordinator, under the direction of nursing leadership, facilitates unit organization and patient care by assisting in the coordination of patient, nursing, physician and other health care provider office and clerical activities.Unit Specifics:

Medical is a great place to solidify and maintain nursing skills. Our skilled nurses help provide excellent orientation and growth opportunities. Nurses mainly work with Hospitalist physicians, therapists, social workers and CNA’s to care for the majority of our patients. Our two subspecialties are: End of Life and Oncology care.

Patient to CNA ratio is 8-12:1

Shift start times are 0500 and 1700. This position requires availability to work a combination of day and night shift.

Shift Details: Full-time variable shifts available (days/nights), weekend and holiday requirements

Minimum Qualifications:Current CNA Certification.

and -

Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.If working in Utah-OR-Completion of nursing assistant training program (verification of nursing assistant training program completion required and C.N.A. certification required within 120 days of hire) and BLS-OR-Completion of a fundamentals of nursing class with a passing grade within the past two years (official transcript required to verify completion of class and C.N.A. certification required within 120 days of hire) and BLSFor those hired into a skilled nursing facility or long-term care center obtaining a C.N.A. certification within 120 days is allowed only if the new hire has never been had a C.N.A. in Utah. If previously certified, must have a current and valid C.N.A. before start dateDemonstrated verbal and written communication skills.

Clerical or customer service experience.Preferred Qualifications:CNA experience or applicable healthcare experience.

Current enrollment in nursing school.

Basic computer skills,

Experience as a Secretary in a hospital.

Experience using electronic medical records.

Experience with word processing software.

Basic understanding of medical terminology.Physical Requirements:Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

and -

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.

and -

Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

and -

Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).
