Rugged Ridge Forest, a growing wood-fired, organic Maple Sugarbush, is looking for a skilled logging equipment operator, predominately for a logging forwarder as well as skidders, excavators, skid steers, etc.
The greatest thing about logging in a sugarbush is that it is not about what we take out, but what we leave behind. While we try and log efficiently, we do take the extra steps to make sure that we don't bung up the residual stand.
We could train the right candidate, but they would need to show up with excellent mechanical aptitude and situational awareness.
We could be looking for strictly a part time equipment operator who would like to work when the woods are dry or the ground is frozen. This could be an excellent bridge to retirement for a logger with plenty of experience but who doesn't need to work full time anymore.
If someone wanted to work closer to full time, the job would expand to include setting up and checking sugaring networks, on the farm construction, boiling, bottling, etc.
We are a good group of folks who genuinely love working in the woods. We take pride in working smart and hard as we accomplish herculean tasks as a team.
