Director of Communications

Description We are looking for a contract Director of Communications in Arlington, VA!As the Director of Communications, you will be responsible for leading and executing the Association's marketing and communications strategy. You will work closely with the President and CEO to ensure all communications align with the organization's mission, values, and strategic objectives.Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that supports the Association's goals.

Media Relations: Manage media relationships, serve as the primary media contact, and prepare leadership for media engagements.

Content Creation: Oversee the creation and distribution of high-quality content, including press releases, op-eds, social media posts, and other materials.

Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of communications professionals, including a Social Media Manager.

Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, such as members, policymakers, and the media.

Campaign Management: Manage and execute legislative campaigns and other strategic initiatives.

Brand Management: Protect and enhance the Association's brand reputation.

Requirements

8+ years of experience in strategic communications, legislative campaigns, or marketing.

Bachelor's degree.

Strong understanding of the news media industry and nonprofit organizations.

Exceptional writing and editing skills.

Experience leading and managing teams.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and G Suite.
