Description There's currently a position available through Robert Half at a growing Manufacturing firm for an efficient, accurate Staff Accountant. Based in the Danville, Virginia region, this company offers an engaging and mulit-faceted long-term contract / temporary to hire opportunity where effort is rewarded. The Staff Accountant plays a major role in the preparation of monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. This position is very involved as it will produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During the monthly close, you'll also be charged with various aspects of internal reporting. In addition, you will be in charge of communicating with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, playing an active role in compliance, and looking over schedules for the reporting processes.How you will make an impact
Take part the in implementation and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP
Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Be a part of various initiatives spanning multiple departments
Offer descriptions of a large number of financial data and communicate insights in a useful and understandable manner
Conduct month end close, journal entries, without supervision
Oversee the creation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for reporting to management
Keep up fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Organize capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Requirements
Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Full Cycle Accounting experience
Solid understanding of account reconciliation
Demonstrated ability in strong analytical, quantitative and social skills
Spreadsheet and database capabilities
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Current and relevant ERP system experience
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
Recent and relevant accounting experience
