This role is perfect for someone with a strong foundation in Python and Jupyter Notebooks, proficiency in statistics, and a desire to apply data science to solve real-world problems.HOW A DATA SCIENTIST WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
Work with cross-functional teams to understand business problems and data requirements.
Develop and deploy data analysis and machine learning models using Python and open-source libraries.
Use Jupyter Notebooks for data exploration, visualization, and presenting insights.
Implement basic statistical analyses (e.g., hypothesis testing, regression, correlation) to derive actionable insights from data.
Collaborate with team members to build, test, and improve predictive models.
Use basic computer science concepts like algorithms, data structures, and software engineering best practices in projects.
Write clear, maintainable, and reusable code for data extraction, analysis, and reporting.
Assist in the integration of data pipelines for the efficient collection, processing, and storage of data.
Work with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP) to implement scalable data science solutions.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, ComputerScience, Statistics, or a related field. In lieu of degree, 6+ years of experience with Python for data analysis, machine learning, or related fields.
Required Experience: 2 years of experience with Python for data analysis, machine learning, or related fields
Required Technical Skills: Experience working with open-source software and libraries like pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, or similar
Required Skills and Abilities: Proficiency in using Jupyter Notebooks for data exploration and reporting. Solid understanding of statistics and data analysis techniques. Ability to write clear and maintainable code. Experience with data visualization tools such as Matplotlib, Seaborn, or Plotly. Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
Preferred Skills and Abilities: Basic knowledge of computer science principles, including algorithms, data structures, and software development. Familiarity with cloud development environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP). Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Familiarity with Git or other version control systems. Knowledge of SQL and working with relational databases. Exposure to cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP.

Location: This is a hybrid position working in our GDIT facility in Falls Church, VA. Must be comfortable working onsite 2 days a week.

The likely salary range for this position is $77,350 - $104,650. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary.
