The Appian Developer, Mid is required to create business process workflows and user stories, configure, and extend Appian objects, and implement the system logic necessary to satisfy the requirements. The Appian Developer, Mid will also work with the database team to define the data objects and schema needed to support the workflows.Responsibilities
Work with fellow team members and project leaders to design Appian applications, perform software configuration and customization, and create documentation.
Refine and translate system software requirements specifications into structured Appian application programs.
Provide all required documentation including custom use cases, agile user stories, process modeling using Business Process Modeling Notation, etc.
Provide expertise in multiple related technologies including Structured Query Language and Appian Complex Data Type configurations.
Configure Appian’s Business Process Management Suite to bring efficiencies to human-centric business processes.
Provide technical expertise, including process modeling, user interface design, and data modeling.
Configure, debug, test, and document new applications and enhancements, including but not limited to forms, reports, and underlying logic and interface components on development projects as assigned.
Provide software development life cycle support, including the conduct of technical requirements analysis, design, development, performance measurement, verification and validation, deployment, change management, and transition.
Work with database administrators, the quality assurance team, system engineers, network engineers, and other staff to ensure data consistency, security, and privacy.
Design and implement complex data models based on customer application requirements.
Actively participate in design and systems development, software configuration, customization, and documentation.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
High school diploma or GED equivalent and an additional 4+ years of experience may be used instead of a degree
3+ years of relevant experience
Additional education or relevant higher-level certifications may be used instead of experience
3+ years of hands-on experience with software application design, development, testing, and engineering duties are required
3+ years of experience with the Appian BPM Platform is required
Appian Certified Senior Developer certification preferred, Appian Certified Associate Developer certification at a minimum
Possess and maintain a valid state motor vehicle operator's license
Top Secret clearance is required (SCI with CI Poly preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience with Agile and/or federal software development environments preferred.
Experience with systems and software architecture is desired.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to listen and understand what is being described by the end user, including the ability to explain problem resolutions when necessary.
Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
Strong customer service skills.
Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to analyze system functionality with customers and resolve production issues.
Ability to work independently without direct supervision or guidance.
Ability to occasionally work after hours and/or do on-call support.
Ability to work well under pressure with tight deadlines and ambiguity on some projects.
Demonstrate ability to analytically address complex problems, process critical data, establish facts, and draw quality conclusions.
