DescriptionPurposeTo oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying financial transactions.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership and Direction

Receive general instruction on key objectives for execution. Receive direction as needed, and especially complex assignments, modified techniques, and new approaches on assignments with conflicting criteria. Work is completed using advanced techniques and principles and is reviewed by more senior staff to ensure application of sound professional judgement. May review work produced by junior staff for quality assurance.

At the Operational and Company Level

Assist with the development, implementation of and monitoring adherence to company accounting policies and procedures.

Identify, research, and resolve corporate accounting, auditing, and operational issues.

Work with other internal departments regarding accounting matters.

Do the Work

Lease accounting to include setting up new leases, maintaining deferred rent schedules, equipment, and vehicle lease schedules.

Perform intercompany monthly entries and reconciliations.

Assist with month-end closing, including reconciling the general ledger accounts.

Develop and analyze internal monthly financial statements and year-end audit financial statements.

Assist with financial audit preparation and responses including annual external audit, bank audits, 401(k) audit and other audits as required.

Cross-train within accounting function.

Identify opportunities for process improvement.

Assist Controller with special projects to facilitate the effective functioning of the Finance Department.

Education, Work Experience, Licensure/Certifications, and Technical Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.

Relevant certification (e.g., CMA or CPA) preferred but not required.

Five or more (5+) years of corporate accounting experience.

Thorough knowledge of GAAP.

Knowledge of Deltek Vision preferred, experience with an ERP system required.

Must have AP full cycle exposure.

Prior architecture, engineering, and/or construction accounting experience preferred.

Previous experience with mergers and acquisitions is a plus.

Ability to analyze and research accounting data.

Physical Demands and Working Environment

Eligible for remote work arrangements.

Primarily indoor professional office environment which may include bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.

Mobility around an office environment.

Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
