Division Information PACCAR’s Information Technology Division (ITD), located in Renton, WA utilizes cutting-edge technology to provide systems development, consulting, voice and data communications services to the entire Corporation, which has high visibility in the technology sector. The Role We are seeking a Cloud Engineer to build, deploy, operate, sustain, and grow the software systems that build, scale, monitor, secure, manage, and automate PACCAR’s Connected Vehicle Platform. The Global Engineering team within Global Connected Services drives the stability and sustainability of next generation Connected Solutions and discover innovative ways to scale and operate them reliably. In this role, you will work with Systems and Software Engineers to create proactive engineering mechanisms that will enable your team to manage the health of cloud services, distributed server fleets, and the software stacks across the Connected Vehicle Platform. You will deploy and monitor systems and automation to ensure that Connected Services are operating optimally. You will utilize trends and metrics to identify opportunities for improvements within existing frameworks, tools and processes to continuously improve our Connected Solutions. The ideal candidate will have a technical background, be detail driven, and have excellent problem-solving abilities. You will be comfortable designing, building, deploying, and operating. You will also be responsible for systems functionality, performance, and configurations issues. The Global Connected Services Cloud Engineer will demonstrate sound knowledge of Linux and shell scripting concepts and theory and have some experience participating in Connected Solutions deployment and support. The Team The PACCAR Global Connected Services team is dedicated to implementing Connected Solutions across the PACCAR network, strategically positioning them to enhance competitiveness and achieve the outlined business objectives. Within this framework, the Services Development department focuses on creating and defining Connected Services and Features. These are designed to benefit customers, dealers, and internal PACCAR organizations, ensuring high-quality delivery and effective market introduction. Job Functions/Responsibilities

Leverage scripting languages, such as Python and Terraform, to build automated solutions and integrations on an ad-hoc basis.

Work with System Engineers, Developers, Architects, and DevOps engineers to design and implement automated solutions with CI/CD Pipelines for infrastructure and software build, deployment, and configuration.

Ensure Connected Vehicle Platform service level expectations are clearly defined and measurable through Service Level Objective’s (SLO’s) and Service Level Indicators (SLI’s).

Apply Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) best practices to consult, coach and provide oversight to development, business, and systems teams in defining and implementing SLOs/SLIs.

Automate using Docker, Terraform, GitFlow, Github Actions, or an equivalent.

Maintain code and scripting Git version control repositories and related systems supporting initiatives around “infrastructure as code”.

Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve problems with the build, deployment, and continuous integration process.

Ensure security is integrated into all architecture solutions to meet compliance standards.

Seek opportunities and implement solutions to improve site reliability (reducing Mean Time to Diagnosis, Mean Time to Resolution, System Self-healing, etc.).

Qualifications

3-5 years of professional cloud engineering or software development experience required.

1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems required.

Proficiency in one or more of Python, Bash, JavaScript, Go required.

Experience using AWS and/or GCP resource technologies to develop and deploy enterprise solutions required.

Experience managing scaled cloud systems with a focus on operational excellence preferred.

Experience working with high-availability, distributed systems and services in a hosting environment including hardware, OS, storage, network, and database solutions preferred.

Experience with DNS, DHCP, SSH, HTTP, TCP/IP and other common network protocols preferred.

Experience with system analysis and troubleshooting in large-scale Linux environment preferred.

Experience with database technology, both relational and NoSQL preferred.

Experience with Microservices Architectures preferred.

Working knowledge of agile development methods preferred.

Working knowledge of data structures/algorithms preferred.

Experience with IoT is a plus.

AWS or GCP Certification is plus.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Information Technology or related experience preferred.
