Medical Records Clerk

Start Date: 9/2/2024Summary:We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Records Clerk. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing, sorting, scanning, indexing, and uploading records from clinics and hospitals into our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, ensuring high-quality scans and proper documentation. Key Responsibilities:

Review medical records received from clinics and hospitals.

Sort, scan, and index documents, ensuring they are uploaded accurately into the EMR system.

Perform quality assurance checks to ensure scan quality meets standards.

Assign document types using a pre-defined dropdown menu.

Manage uploads from direct fax and ensure proper integration into Epic system.

Maintain confidentiality and security of all medical records.

Skills and Qualifications:

Proficient in MS Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.

Familiarity with medical records, scanning processes, and clerical support.

Experience with document management, EMR systems, and filing.

Competent in chart review and understanding of electronic medical records.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Basic computer and PC skills.

Effective written and verbal communication skills in English, including accurate spelling and legible handwriting.

Preferred Experience:

1-2 years of experience in records management, particularly in a health information management department or medical office.

Experience with Epic, OnBase, McKesson Star, or ChartMaxx systems is a plus.

Ability to handle telephone calls and personal interactions with tact, poise, courtesy, and respect.

Demonstrated ability to maintain records accurately and confidentially.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.
