Maintenance Training Instructor

Reports to a Training Supervisor and is responsible for the development, instruction, and maintenance of WTCC Site Maintenance and Work Control training materials with an emphasis on corrective, preventative and periodic maintenance. Performs tasks in accordance with applicable project procedures, guides, policies, laws, regulations, Contract, Authorization Basis, and technical requirements. The individual will support Requirement Area Managers and functional Subject Matter Experts (SME) to systematically develop quality training that supports the requirement area mission.This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCCMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKSConduct Maintenance and Work Control training (e.g. classroom and performance-based training), including instruction, exam administration and training effectiveness evaluations:

The ability to develop Maintenance training programs and curriculum from published standards, approved procedures, technical requirements and SME input/feedback.

Implement the Maintenance training program to qualify contractors, operations, maintenance, laboratory, radiological control, and/or other technical personnel to ensure staff have the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform work safely in compliance with site and industry maintenance standards with competencies commensurate with their responsibilities.

Coordinate and communicate between the training organization and other line management or support organizations to ensure training needs are identified and met through effective training.

Perform observations and assessments to ensure activities are implemented safely and effectively in accordance with approved procedures.

Support a strong Nuclear Safety Quality Culture (NSQC) by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work, in order to protect self, others, and the environment.

High School (HS) Diploma

AND

Must have knowledge and/or expertise in performance of maintenance, upkeep and safe work practices.

AND

Must have 8 years’ experience as an instructor or have the ability to successfully demonstrate knowledge of instructional techniques through basic instructor training.

Additional Requirements:

Prior instructor experience in construction or general industry with emphasis on maintenance.

Applicant must have experience in the following areas:

Use and maintain the Learning Management System.

Ensure Training courses are instructionally sound and adhere to quality standards.

Work with applicable Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) during the development of training material to ensure technical accuracy.

Preferred candidates will have:

Experience in technical instruction.

Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.

Experience in Material Handling and Hoisting and Rigging activities, and ASME/OSHA/DOE requirements and regulations.

The ability to develop maintenance/work control training programs and curriculum from published standards, approved procedures, technical requirements and SME input/feedback.

Able to communicate and work effectively with all levels of the organization in addition to people of varied backgrounds and perspectives.

Strong team skills, including the ability to coach and facilitate classroom teams.

Self-motivated requiring minimal supervisory oversight.

Familiarity with the nuclear industry or other highly regulated training environments.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; PowerPoint, Word, Outlook.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS(EFNM) Exposed Field Non-ManualPerforms desk work, including writing, computer workstation processes, and telephone operation. Arranges for and/or performs presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal contacts, requiring long periods of sitting. Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of personal protective equipment. Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity.This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.Must be able to work in the United States without SponsorshipMust be able to obtain a Department of Energy (DOE) badge for access to the Hanford site .COMPENSATION & BENEFITSHIRING SALARY RANGE: $99,193.03 - $154,255.09 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)This position includes a competitive benefits package.
