We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Teacher to join our team at BYC Kids!
BYC Kids is a Reggio Emilia inspired Pre-school and Elementary Age After care program in the Loyal Heights neighborhood in Ballard.
BYC Kids believes in the child led approach to learning and that as educators our role is to help guide, support and nurture their individual learning path.

BYC Kids is a year round preschool program and offers summer camps for our elementary aged student.
Preschool runs M-F , 9am-1pm and our Aftercare program runs M-F 2:30-5:30pm.
As an Assistant Teacher, you will be responsible for providing a nurturing, caring and educational environment for preschool children. ages 2.5-5 y/o.
Your primary goal will be to help facilitate and guide their growth and development through creative play, engaging activities, exploration and social interaction with peers.
In the afternoon teachers facilitate a energetic creative arts after school program for students ranging
Kindergartner - 5th grade.
Responsibilities:
- Create a safe and stimulating environment for children to learn and play.
- Display creativity and patience in delivering lessons and addressing individual learning styles.
- Assist Lead Teacher in implementing daily curriculum for Preschoolers.
- Plan and organize daily activities, art projects and lessons to meet individual and group needs.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that promotes respect, kindness, and cooperation.
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom, following safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding their child's progress and any concerns.
- Act as a mediator and encourage positive interactions between children.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and instructional skills to engage children in learning activities.
- Stay updated on current trends and best practices in early childhood education.
Requirements:
- Proven experience working with preschool-aged children.
- Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods.
- Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for preschool students.
- Strong communication and instructional skills.
- Ability to act as a mediator between children, encouraging conflict resolution and positive interactions.
- Creativity, patience, friendliness, and reliability.
- Willingness to obtain certification in child CPR.
