Position Purpose

The purpose of this position is to coordinate, manage, and implement all facets of the newly funded Shelton Promise Program at The Evergreen State College. The Shelton Promise Program was funded by the Washington State Legislature in their 2024 session and includes a program planning year in order to recruit the first starting student cohort in Fall 2025. Modeled after other Promise Programs across the state, Shelton Promise is intended to increase access to higher education for Shelton high school students, who have historically had a significantly lower participation rate when compared to the statewide average. Specifically, Evergreen will provide wrap-around services from enrollment through graduation, including academic and career advising, course registrations, housing, student employment and internship opportunities, and more.

Reporting to the Chief Enrollment Officer, this position provides strategic leadership for the Shelton Promise Program, collaborates with staff and faculty colleagues across divisions within Evergreen, cultivates strong partnerships with school district personnel, and delivers on a comprehensive outreach plan to build awareness within the broader Shelton community. As such, this position spends a significant amount of time in Mason County engaging directly with prospective students and their families, delivering presentations to various audiences, and finding the best ways to build trust that Evergreen will be a successful educational path for each individual student.

This is a full-time, overtime eligible, project position on the Olympia campus of The Evergreen State College. This position is an “at-will” appointment, exempt from Washington State Civil Service rules. This project position is funded for two years from the start date and may be extended based on program success and additional funding.

Salary and Benefits: $4,571 – $5,945 per month of full-time work + excellent benefits including paid sick and vacation leave; paid campus holidays; a generous medical, dental, life, and disability insurance package; and a tuition waiver program.

Closes: August 29, 2024

All requested application materials must be submitted by the deadline in order to be considered.
