And you play a part in shaping the future of the outdoors, for people and our planet.This job contributes to REI’s success by reviewing, balancing, and posting basic corporate financial data into the General Ledger in an accurate and timely manner. Performs routine general ledger account analysis and makes adjusting entries. Researches and posts account corrections in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal account definitions. Initiates, develops and implements process improvements. Models and acts in accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission.Responsibilities and QualificationsWhat You'll Do:

Reviews, balances, and posts corporate financial data from multiple systems into the general ledger.

Actively seeks guidance on prioritization from staff accountants and managers to ensure deliverables are completed timely.

Performs month-end closing activities and account reconciliations.

Prepares supporting documentation for balance sheet accounts as well as journal entries.

Identifies issues and brings inconsistencies and problems to the attention of management. Participates in developing and implementing solutions.

Generates custom and ad hoc reports as requested by management.

Oversees the organization and management of data retention.

Serves as backup support to other team members.

Participates in ad hoc projects and assignments as needed.

Frequently participates in interdepartmental collaboration with a wide variety of teams across the Co-op.

Performs data entry and account clearing responsibilities.

Actively seeks and pursues opportunities for process improvement.

What You'll Bring:

2+ years accounting experience or Associate Accounting degree required.

Solid understanding of multiple financial systems.

Basic knowledge of Excel or Word.

Demonstrates basic understanding of how to apply GAAP to General Ledger accounting.

Analytical and problem solving skills.

Basic understanding of business math calculations.
