POSITION: Lead Carpenter/Carpenter

DEPARTMENT: Production

EDUCATIONAL & TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicant must be able to work within precise limits and standards of accuracy as well as apply higher math functions to solve technical problems. Must have a working knowledge of power tools and hand tools used in rough carpentry, finish carpentry and millwork. Educational requirements include High School Diploma or equivalent and at least five years of related carpentry experience. A combination of apprenticeship program and work experience is acceptable.

POSITION SUMMARY & QUALIFICATIONS:

The applicant must have the ability to successfully complete complex carpentry tasks with minimal supervision as well as supervise the work of others. Position requires a wide diversity of knowledge about the construction trades and an ability to assimilate information rapidly and effectively.

WORK SCHEDULE:

8-5pm Monday through Friday; 40-hour work week. Must live nearby.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to analyze working drawings and plan, supervise and execute work based on drawings and specifications. Includes blueprints and spec sheets.

Ability to lay out in the field and independently verify that the work is plumb, level and square.

Ability to communicate effectively with clients, subs and vendors effectively.

Working knowledge of state mandated safety requirements.

Ability to plan, supervise and execute scaffold and staging systems in compliance with safety requirements.

Ability to organize and supervise material handling tasks.

Ability to organize maintenance & care of equipment.

Working knowledge of site layout principles.

Working knowledge and skills in wood framing, including all aspects of residential framing.

Working knowledge and skills in finish carpentry, including millwork, standing and running trim, paneling, interior stairs, railing systems, and closet assemblies.

Working knowledge and skills in installation of cabinetry.

Working knowledge and skills in the installation of doors, windows, skylights, and hardware.

```Duties```

- Oversee and lead a team of carpenters in various construction projects

- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements

- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, and other materials

- Install structures and fixtures such as windows, doors, cabinets, stairs, trim, and hardware

- Ensure that all work is completed according to quality standards and within project timelines

- Collaborate with other tradespeople and contractors to coordinate project activities

- Maintain a clean and organized work area

```Experience```

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in carpentry or a related field

- Proficient in a wide range of carpentry skills including masonry, CNC, plumbing, installation, drywall, blueprint reading, stucco, cabinet installation, maintenance person work, and trim carpentry

- Strong knowledge of construction materials, tools, and techniques

- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings

- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

- Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively communicate and delegate tasks
