Position Overview:

As the Engineering Manager at Qualitel, you will lead and manage the engineering team within our high-end, high-reliability Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) division. You will oversee all engineering projects, processes, and initiatives to ensure they align with company policies and objectives. Your role will be critical in driving continuous improvement, optimizing production processes, and ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and reliability. You will play a key role in fostering innovation and ensuring that our technology and equipment are aligned with current and future business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management:

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and techs.

Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the engineering team.

Set clear goals and expectations, provide regular feedback and performance evaluations.

Oversee the Engineering Department, ensuring all projects and processes conform to company policies and objectives.

Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and develop plans to achieve new goals and company objectives.

Work closely with customers to understand their technical requirements and translate them into manufacturing processes.

Project Management:

Manage multiple engineering projects from concept through production, ensuring on-time delivery within budget.

Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, procurement, and sales, to ensure project success.

Track and report on project progress, risks, and opportunities.

Review, plan, and manage all aspects of project proposals, including equipment, human resources, performance reports, data analysis, and budget management.

Delegate tasks effectively and ensure the on-time completion of projects while maintaining high quality and customer satisfaction.

Communicate effectively with all levels of the operations teams, cross-functional teams, and customers to maintain alignment and satisfaction.

Process Optimization/ Innovation/ Technology:

Develop and implement manufacturing processes that improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.

Drive the equipment/process roadmap to maintain a competitive edge in the market.

Conduct process validation to ensure that all engineering and manufacturing processes meet required standards of quality, reliability, and efficiency.

Promote a culture of innovation within the engineering team.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.

Budget & Resource Management:

Develop and manage the engineering budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources.

Identify and procure necessary tools, equipment, and software to support engineering activities.

Optimize resource utilization to maximize productivity and cost-effectiveness.

Key Process Management:

NPI / Doc / BOM: Manage New Product Introduction (NPI), including document control and ensuring the accuracy and timely updates of the Bill of Materials (BOM).

NPI Releases: Lead the release process for NPI projects, ensuring all documentation and processes are completed accurately and on time.

ECO / Documentation: Oversee Engineering Change Orders (ECO) and related documentation processes, ensuring timely and accurate updates.

CCA Assembly: Manage development and improvement of operations for Circuit Card Assembly, including SMT, selective soldering, wave soldering, manual soldering, conformal coating, and testing.

HLA: Oversee High-Level Assembly (HLA) New Product Introduction (NPI) processes, ensuring smooth transitions from development to production.

Calibration: Ensure all equipment and tools are properly calibrated and maintained to meet industry standards.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

o Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field

o 7+ years of experience in engineering roles within the electronics manufacturing industry, with at least 3 years in a management position.

o Proven experience in managing engineering teams and projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

o Strong knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes, including PCB assembly, surface-mount technology (SMT), and testing.

o Excellent problem-solving skills, with a strong focus on continuous improvement and process optimization.

o Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 13485, AS9100, IPC-A-610, and other relevant certifications.

Language Skills:

o Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

o Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

o Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills:

o Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

o Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

o Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

o Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Success Factors:

First 3-6 Months:

Develop a strong understanding of Qualitel’s engineering processes, products, and customer requirements.

Build relationships with your team and key stakeholders across the organization.

Assess current engineering projects and identify any immediate risks or opportunities for improvement.

Begin to implement process improvements and establish metrics for tracking progress.

6-12 Months:

Successfully manage multiple engineering projects /rocks with teams ensuring on-time delivery and completeness

Implement more advanced process optimization initiatives, leveraging Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the engineering team, driving efficiency and innovation.

Establish a solid track record of meeting or exceeding quality and performance standards.

After 12 Months:

Lead the engineering team to achieve long-term company goals

Ensure that all engineering and manufacturing processes consistently meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, and efficiency.

Continue to drive innovation by staying current with industry trends and implementing cutting-edge technologies.
