As our new Office Associate, we know you will be successful in this role because you:

Are Focused: No detail goes missed under your watch. Receiving, sorting, and routing daily USPS, departmental, and unit mail along with other receivables (membership applications, donations, etc.) to proper units is something you can do flawlessly.

Have Strong Administrative Abilities: As a clerical pro, you are a clear communicator and can adjust your messaging based on the audience. You are able to keep relevant files, directories, and other general zoo information accessible and up to date.

Provide Exemplary Customer Service: You have excellent work standards and provide amazing customer service daily. As the zoo’s initial contact for in-person reception and you enjoy routing incoming calls and emails on the zoo Administration’s main lines. You can support various zoo departments by providing administrative support as needed and/or requested.

Are Comfortable Speaking and Working with Everyone: You are comfortable responding to and assisting the public, outside customers, contractors and vendors, as well as internal zoo employees with questions and/or requests for assistance. You enjoy working as part of a diverse team. You treat everyone with respect.

YOUR PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepare outgoing mail and shipments for delivery. Receive, sort, and route daily USPS, departmental, and unit mail along with other receivables (membership applications, donations, etc.) to proper units.

Serve as the zoo’s initial contact for reception and receiving.

Respond to and assist the public, outside customers, contractors and vendors, as well as internal zoo employees with questions and/or requests for assistance.

Coordinate, order and maintain office supplies and furniture as needed or requested.

Help keep relevant files, directories, and other general zoo information accessible and up to date.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to speak more than one language.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); six (6) months to one (1) year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience including experience with multi-line phone systems and reception.

Ability to work a non-standard/flexible schedule, which will include one weekend day, and may include some holidays

Ability to work effectively as a team member, and independently with little supervision.

Ability to collaborate well with all levels of employees and managers across the organization.

Successful applicants must live and work in Washington State to perform this role.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
