We have a unique Research Chemist position that offers the opportunity to work in a commercial laboratory while pursuing individual research in analytical chemistry using 3 Isotope Ratio Mass spectrometers with different peripherals, a Laser Ablation, and 2 Multi-Collector ICPMS systems. As a Research Chemist, you will be primarily responsible for development of new methods for food authentication, tracing of geographic origin, and the authentication of organic status utilizing all available instrumentation in our lab. You will be expected to direct and/or perform research and publish research results in peer-reviewed scientific publications. You will also work closely with our academic partners and clients to solve their analytical problems and help them design their experiments.

Requirements:

PhD in chemistry, environmental science, or a closely-related field, with emphasis on natural abundance stable isotope ratio measurements.

A proven track record of publications related to Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry.

Experience working in a stable isotope lab with stable isotope applications.

Experience running and/or maintaining analytical instruments, such as LC-MS, GC-MS or GC-IRMS instruments, and experience with R, python, or Matlab.

Knowledge of Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) procedures for isotope ratio data.

Ability to multi-task and stay on top of many projects at the same time.

Positive, can-do attitude and ability to work in groups and ability to be a team player.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The pay rate for this position is $75,000 - $90,000 annually, depending on experience. Full-time employees are eligible for the following benefits after a brief waiting period: medical, dental, vision, life/AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability insurance, 401(k), health and dependent care FSA plans, employee assistance program, 15 days of paid time off per year for sick leave and/or vacation, 3 days paid bereavement leave, and 6 paid holidays per year.
