DESKTOP SUPPORT TECHNICIAN

The Desktop Support Technician’s role is to support and maintain organizational computer systems, desktops, and peripherals. That includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all organizational hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal workstation performance. The person will also troubleshoot problem areas (in person, by telephone, or via work order) in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end-user assistance where required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma, or equivalent, and/or 3 years work experience in related field.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Excellent knowledge of PC and desktop hardware.

Excellent knowledge of PC internal components.

Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.

Extensive equipment support experience.

Working technical knowledge of current protocols, operating systems, and standards.

Ability to operate tools, components, and peripheral accessories.

Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation and OEM guides.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods of time. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and other computer components. Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals. In-district travel is required for the purpose of on-site hardware and software troubleshooting and repair.

REQUIRED PRIOR TO STARTING WORK: Unless you have been fingerprinted in a school district within the last two years, you will be required to have fingerprinting done. The Olympic ESD 114 (360.478.6881) in Bremerton offers digital live-scan fingerprinting services by appointment for a fee of $78.00.
