JOB SUMMARY It is the boiler/dryer operator responsibility to operate the boiler in a safe and efficient manner to maintain steam pressure to meet plant steam demands, to maintain a consistent flow of wood to meet plant dry wood demands, to operate the front-end loader and dozer. It is expected of all boiler personnel to continuously upgrade their abilities and to enhance their job knowledge to achieve a high level of proficiency.JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES-Always demonstrate safe behaviors.-Monitor and adjust boiler to maintain proper steam generation.-Maintain consistent flow of raw material from drag chain to the dry silos.-Maintain a safe operating level of dust in sander dust silo.-Operate the front-end loader to load the drag chain and dump sander dust.-Operate dozer when needed to push up trucks and push down the pile.-Empty ash hoppers for multiclone and ESP.-Monitor emissions and report out of compliance conditions.-Perform cleaning and housekeeping functions to maintain a safe and efficient work area in the boiler room, breakdown room and other areas as assigned.-Shut down, clean out and start up boiler on maintenance days as required.-Monitor inventory of chemicals and rotex boots and notify purchasing when low.-Recognize and respond to upset conditions as required.-Monitor ongoing operation of equipment to detect malfunction or need for adjustment. Report to supervisor and/or maintenance.-Effectively utilize and adhere to established communication methods and practices.-Assist and train co-workers as assigned.-Perform other duties as assigned by management.
