Composite Technician Location: Bridgeport, WV Job Code: 2575 # of openings: 1 DescriptionThe Composite Technician performs advance lay-up techniques to include pre-preg or wet lay-up, cutting, bagging, basic repair, autoclave, and/or trimming operations. This role must be able to demonstrate an understanding of how work orders, blueprints, and lay-up charts ensure the quality of the product and provide suggestions on improvements as well as coach and mentor other employees in proper procedures. Must also be able to work with shop tools and equipment used in composite layup and assembly as well as demonstrates the ability to perform in a team environment and exhibit a willingness to "do what it takes" to ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded.Responsibilities:Build composite components for air vehicles using appropriate lay-up techniquesHandling, mixing, and applying various resin/catalyst materialsOperate a broad variety equipment for cutting, kitting, and assembly of materials to include machines requiring understanding of computer software technologyUse hand/power tools in a safe and efficient manner to shape and form simple and complex componentsPrepare composite components for curing process in autoclave and/or oven by applying proper vacuum bagging methods and proceduresComplete self-verification procedure on work orders and other related/required documentsEnsure parts meet all quality standards and guidelines prior to presenting for inspectionPerform simple and complex composite repairs when neededEffectively coach and mentor others on the proper composite lay-up process and proceduresMaintain a neat and orderly work area, supports the company FOD (Foreign Object Damage) prevention program and complies with all safety regulationsMust be able to perform math computations, to include adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; Convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractionsProvide back up support for AFP machine to include set-up and operationMay work any shift and overtimeComply with good housekeeping, quality, FOD, and safety proceduresSupport other Aurora Flight Sciences sites as requiredPerform other tasks as required by site leadershipRequirements:High school diploma or equivalentMinimum 2 years prior experience in composites using pre-preg or wet-layup techniques and materialsExperienced in FAA manufacture and associated paperworkDocumented apprenticeship programs or trade school certifications considered in combination with experienceAbility to interpret complex engineering drawings, which utilize ASME, Y 14.5 MKnowledge of geometric tolerances is requiredProficient in the use of computers and equipment which utilizes computer software technology for composites lay-ups and AFP machinesMust be a US Person or Permanent Resident Green Card HolderDesired:Advanced vocational and/ or military technical schooling related to aircraft manufacturing or maintenance, or FAA licensed A.and.amp;PPhysical Requirements:Ability to work in a manufacturing environment as well as lift and transport objects up to 40 pounds as well as consistently stand, stoop, crawl, bend, crouch, climb, and kneelShift Requirements:Day shift with flexibility to work extended work hours or other shifts as neededAurora Flight Sciences is an Equal Opportunity Employer
