About the Opportunity

We are seeking to hire a research assistant to assist with mouse studies that address the relationship between Alzheimer's disease and periodontal disease.

What you'll do:

Assist with bacteria and drug administration. These tasks require expertise in handling mice, administering chemical or biological solutions to mice, and processing bacterial cultures.

Assisting with husbandry tasks such as weaning and genotyping mice.

Assist with data analysis and sample processing.

Length of Assignment: Approximately 8.5 months

Pay Grade:

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in biology, microbiology, or neuroscience and experience in mouse handling or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Previous experience with small animal handling, microbiological samples, or some molecular biology experience is preferred but not required.

Ability to handle live rodents in experimental settings.

Ability to work some weekends.

Attention to detail and ability to comprehend and follow verbal instructions and/or written or published protocols.

Good communication and interpersonal skills for communicating effectively and courteously with PI and lab personnel.

Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

This position may or may not require Medical Monitoring, including periodic health monitoring and/or training.About WVU

About the Opportunity The Student Success Coordinator (SSC) in the Department of Biology will provide support to a complex science unit that administers two large Bachelor of Science degrees. The SSC will design, implement, and coordinate activities in the areas of recruitment, retention, and advising for approximately 600 majors and will teach sections of the freshman orientation course (BIOL 191).
