On-Site Lodge Managers in Alaska
Tutka Bay Lodge, an award-winning wilderness lodge accessible only by boat or floatplane, is seeking On-Site Lodge Managers (or Management Couple) to work alongside owners and begin in Spring 2025. Nestled in a remote coastal fjord of Kachemak Bay, this is more than a job—it’s a lifestyle of adventure, leadership, and hospitality in one of Alaska’s most breathtaking settings. We’re looking for passionate leaders with a love for the outdoors, strong organizational skills, radical hospitality and a hands-on approach to guiding both staff and guest experiences.
Tutka Bay Lodge is a family-owned property, part of the Within the Wild Group. Operating for more than 45 years in Alaska, the Dixon Family have been a staple in Alaska Tourism and in the luxury adventure market. Our vision is to curate exceptional experiences and wilderness exploration within Alaska's awe-inspiring landscapes. With a commitment to a regenerative future, we intentionally design our lodge and out-camp experiences to be intimate and extraordinary. We commit to deliver unparalleled service and hospitality, crafting moments that leave lasting memories for our guests
As the on-site manager, you’ll oversee all aspects of lodge operations: supervising staff, coordinating guest adventures, and maintaining facilities and off-grid systems. This is a hands-on role where you’ll lead by example—whether that means training guides, serving meals, pitching in on housekeeping, planning itineraries, or fixing things. You’ll be the heart of the lodge community, setting the tone for compassionate hospitality while ensuring safety, smooth logistics, and unforgettable guest experiences.
Ideal candidates have hospitality or resort management experience in Alaska, strong leadership and interpersonal skills, and outdoor guiding knowledge. Wilderness First Responder certification is required and can be acquired pre season in Alaska. Physical stamina, adaptability, and a positive team mindset are essential for thriving in this remote environment. Compensation starts at $6,000/month per manager, with transportation, full room and board, some benefits and private quarters included. Couples are encouraged to apply, as complementary skill sets make this lifestyle role especially rewarding.
If you’re ready to embrace the challenge and reward of leading an award winning remote Alaskan lodge, we’d love to hear from you. Please send your resume and a cover letter highlighting your hospitality leadership experience, outdoor skills, and why you’re excited about Tutka Bay Lodge to employment@withinthewild.com. Join us in creating extraordinary wilderness experiences where luxury meets Alaska’s wild beauty.
