Alaska Nature Tours is seeking a Tour Operations Assistant Manager
April - October (May - Sept. minimum) in Haines, Alaska.
Duties of job:
Answer phone, e-mail, and dispatch.
Sell tours and take reservations by email, phone, and walk-ups.
Compose correspondence, create excel spreadsheets and schedules on Mac computers.
Oversee tour and guide schedules.
Establish or maintain relationships with sub-contractors and cruise ship sales staff.
Set up and maintain tour items, prices, and invoices in POS program.
Assist at cruise ship dock to gather tickets and prep for upcoming tours.
Oversee preseason guiding documentation and employment forms.
Assist with bus permitting and insurance requirements.
Oversee space request/availability.
Submit cruise line proposals and allocations.
Promote company via website, emails, travel agents, and cruise lines.
Assist with promotional documents, rate sheets, and tour product descriptions.
Assist with retail sales and kayak rentals in gear shop.
Optional duties:
Obtain CDL, first aid/CPR to drive buses when needed.
Drive on tours and hikes, if needed.
Provide ski & snowboard technical service, Nov. April.
Training and experience: This important position requires a mature self-starter with sales, organizational, and people skills. Tourism, small business, and natural history experience helpful. Knowledge of website maintenance, email, accounting methods, spreadsheets, word processing, and computer graphics, a plus. Must be willing to collaborate on all aspects of the business.
Responsibility: Help to oversee all details of operations. Looks after the company's best interest with enthusiastic sales, promotional skills, and personnel management.
