LACO is seeking an Administrative Assistant to support our office in Eureka.

LACO Associates is a growing engineering firm focusing on Education, Industrial/Commercial, Public Works, Tribal, and Environmental Compliance markets. Our team consists of Planners, Civil and Geotechnical Engineers, Surveyors, Engineering Geologists, Environmental Scientists, and Special Inspectors. LACO was founded in 1954 in beautiful Eureka, California and has since expanded throughout Northern California. Our team members love the Northern California region and have the desire to further LACO's mission to advance the quality of life for generations to come.

This position interacts daily with clients and coworkers and should be filled by an individual who enjoys engaging with others.

Candidate must be able to pass pre-employment background check and must have acceptable driving record.

We are looking for someone who is available between 8 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary functional duties and responsibilities of the Administrative Assistant include:

Answer a multi-line-phone system and direct calls

Serve as a facilitator who may coordinate deadlines and either handle them directly or through others

Systematically and thoughtfully manage various errands

Print, bind, and deliver professional documents with very meticulous attention to detail

Establish a systematic method for self and others to track time commitments and the completion of tasks/maintain calendars

Coordinate and make arrangements for conferences, meetings, and events

Follow an organized filing/management process for electronic and paper documents and mail sorting

Add value through understanding the work processes, resources, structure, and business of the firm

Learn and maintain knowledge of appropriate practice/industry groups and client/project history

Identify and develop relationships with key internal and external client contacts

Availability to occasionally work late hours to meet strict deadlines

EXPERIENCE

At least two or more years of experience as an Administrative Assistant/Secretary or Customer Service related industry

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

A team player with good interpersonal skills

Time Management

Knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

General knowledge of FedEx, UPS, USPS shipping/mailing methods

Skill in working in an office supporting several staff members

Ability to effectively handle multiple assignments in a dynamic environment

Ability to navigate Internet and Intranet and to use technical equipment

Superior customer service skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to solve multidimensional problems and meet a wide variety of challenges

Ability to make sound judgement calls to meet the needs of the firm and provide flexibility to rapidly changing priorities

Reading comprehension with ability to communicate research to other team members
