Description:
Humboldt Swim Club (HSC) is a yearlong non-profit youth sport organization, governed by a board of volunteers and led currently by two Lead Coaches: Age Group & Senior Groups. HSC is currently looking for a Lead Age Group Coach to work collaboratively and manage the team with our current Lead Senior Coach. The Lead Age Group Coach will serve as the primary team leader and administrator for training and competition of the Age Group athletes, 6 years old- 8th grade. The current swim groups are broken up based on age and ability into Intro, Bronze, Silver and Gold. Website: HSCSWIM.ORG
Duties and Responsibilities:
Administrative:
-To provide up to 5 hours administrative work.
-Develop seasonal Age Group training schedule in collaboration with Lead Senior Coach and presented to the HSC Board of Directors.
-To act as the primary communications representative for the Age Group athletes and families.
-To manage, schedule and oversee the assistant group coaches of the Age Group.To coordinate coverage as needed during scheduled practice hours.
-To participate in HSC team functions, meetings and fundraisers
-To help prepare and update practice and meet schedules in coordination with the Lead Senior Coach and the HSC Board of Directors.
-To provide a monthly coaches report in collaboration with group coaches prepared for The HSC Board.
-To prepare and disseminate Age Group announcements via email and monthly newsletter.
-To collaborate with and maintain continuity of the HSC programming, schedule, training, meets, and activities with the Lead Senior Coach.
-To follow the procedures in accordance with HSC Policies and Bylaws.
Coaching:
-To provide up to 13 hours of on deck, in water training at Arcata Community Pool and/or Cal Poly Humboldt for scheduled practices, meets or events.
-Group Practices fall within these times:
Monday-Friday: 4-7:30pm
Saturday: 11am-2pm
-To assist swimmers in reaching the highest level of achievement they desire and are capable of achieving.
-To maintain order, safety and discipline among the swimmers at practice and when appropriate at meets and team events in accordance with the HSC discipline policy as referenced by the HSC bylaws.
-To educate, support and supervise assistant group coaches during on deck instruction.
-To help prepare Age group goals, and criteria for move ups within the program's structure in collaboration with the Lead Senior Coach.
Qualifications:
-2 years of club, high school or collegiate swim coaching experience.
-Current American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid certifications
-Current USA Swimming Coaching Certifications
-Must pass background check
-Minimum High school diploma or GED
