Position Type: Temporary, Seasonal, Part-Time (Mid-August to Early November)

Background: We believe that everyone can sing joyfully. Our choirs provide an inclusive, supportive, and inspiring environment where vocalists of all skill levels and ages are encouraged and empowered to sing in community. Our choirs are unique, non-audition groups where anyone can join, and we teach by ear to promote inclusivity, empowerment, and joy.

Opportunity: The Choir Assistant position plays a vital role in supporting the smooth operation of our choirs and promoting our core values inclusivity, community, and joy through singing. We currently have two choir locations in Los Angeles: One near Culver City, and the other near Sherman Oaks. We will have one Choir Assistant per location. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with a dynamic and diverse group of over 100 choir members, contributing to a collaborative, supportive, and innovative environment. The ideal candidate will be organized and passionate about fostering a positive and engaging choir experience for all involved.

Key Responsibilities:

Community Engagement, Communication, and Relationship Building:

Be a strong advocate and ambassador for the choir and its inclusive mission by welcoming new choir members, maintaining clear communication with all members, assisting with logistics and planning, and attending rehearsals and other community-building events.

Communicate regularly with choir members regarding schedules, updates, and important information.

Help to ensure continued participation throughout the season.

Organizational Support and Administrative:

Collect and track registration and attendance, and report updates to the director and office regularly.

Actively participate in weekly Program Team meetings.

Attend and assist with organization-wide events and sectional rehearsals.

Help with planning, logistics, and production of the end-of-season concert performance.

Qualifications:

Passion for working with diverse individuals and fostering a positive sense of community.

Strong familiarity with Google Suite, specifically Google Docs and Google Sheets.

Knowledge of MailChimp, Dropbox, EventBrite, and/or Kajabi is a plus.

Commitment to collaboration in a team, as part of a mission-driven environment.

Creativity, flexibility, self-motivation.

Clear, kind, and assertive communication.

Reliability and dependability.

Emotional intelligence and understanding of how to empathize and work with a variety of learning types and personalities.

Willingness to learn and a growth mindset.

Means of transportation to rehearsals and events.
