Provides support for the processing of forms and applications used in the adjudication process.

When directed, will contact applicants to schedule dates and times of interviews and naturalization ceremonies.

Performs all clerical tasks related to preparing for and conducting Naturalization ceremonies, including the preparation and distribution of Naturalization certificates and the retrieval of documentation from applicants.

Files copies of naturalization certificates and notices in the appropriate alien file and closes out citizenship ceremonies.

File Clerk:

Examine incoming material and code it numerically, alphabetically, or by subject matter.

Store forms, letters, receipts, or reports in paper form or enter necessary information into other storage devices.

Operate mechanized shelving units that rotate to bring the needed records to them.

Film or scan documents for storage and retrieval.

Ensure that new information is added to the files in a timely manner and may destroy outdated file materials or transfer them to inactive storage.

Check files at regular intervals to make sure that all items are correctly sequenced and placed.

Whenever records cannot be located, will search for the missing material.

Implement changes to the filing system established by supervisory personnel as organizational needs dictate.

When records are requested, will locate, charge out, and forward them to the requestor.

Make copies of records and distribute them to appropriate personnel or offices.

Keep track of materials removed from the files and ensure that those given out are returned

Use computerized filing and retrieval systems such as CIS and NFTS to retrieve information. Enter the document’s identification code, obtain the location, and then pull the document.

Request documents from File Control Offices (FCO), the National Records Center (NRC), the National Benefits Center (NBC), the Federal Records Center (FRC), and other file locations as required.

Mail Clerk:

Mail Clerks handle external mail, serving as the link between the U.S. Postal Service and individual offices and workers.

Mail Clerks sort and date/time stamp incoming mail and deliver mail within large office buildings.

They also prepare outgoing mail for delivery to the post office.

To facilitate delivery of outgoing mail, mail clerks often determine if the mail is to be sent registered, certified, special delivery, or first, second, third, or fourth class, and may group mailings by ZIP code.

When necessary, they contact delivery services to send important letters or parcels.

Mail clerks operate machines that collate, fold, and insert material into envelopes for mailing.

They also operate machines that affix postage and mailing labels and track the amount of money expended on postage.

In addition, mail clerks use computers to keep records of incoming or outgoing items.

The Mail Clerk may be cross trained to perform as a File Clerk, General Office Worker, and/or FDNS Clerk.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:

Must have resided in the United States for 3 of the past 5 years

Must be a U.S. citizen

Must have a Social Security Card

Must be able to pass a thorough background check and obtain a secret security clearance

Must be able to lift 45 pounds

Must have excellent communication skills

Computer literacy and data entry skills

Excellent attendance is a must

High school graduate or equivalent

Other Requirements Include:

Knowledge of MS Office specifically MS Excel and MS Word

Strong writing and communicating skills

Ability to solve problems and manage continuously changing workloads

Ability to motivate employees and work in a team environment

Monitor performance and enforce company policies

Must be able to prioritize work for a number of staff

Strong people skills and time management are a plus
