Assisted Living Dietary Kitchen Staff (Cook)

A new Assisted Living facility is looking for Dietary Kitchen Staff/Cooks to support the facility and its team by enhancing customer experience of residents and families in helping plan, implement and monitor the food supply and nutritional requirements of the facility in accordance with federal, state and local policies and standards.

Responsibilities:

Help plan, implement and monitor food supply (2-days perishables; 7-days non-perishables).

Ensure that menus shall be written at least one week in advance, daily menus are posted and copies of menus are dated and kept on file for at least 30 days.

Ensure that the temperatures of food storage remain compliant. Freezer shall remain 0°F, while refrigerator shall maintain a maximum temperature of 40°F at all times.

Plan and oversee the preparation of three (3) nutritious meals and snacks per day.

Instruct and demonstrate for staff, as needed. Provide recipes and techniques of new items.

Work with Nutritionist to plan and coordinate the meals for residents according to dietary restrictions as ordered by physicians.

Order food, kitchen supplies and other kitchen-related items. Work with vendors to ensure the best quality and lowest costs.

Ensure the kitchen equipment’s cleanliness, up-keep and regular maintenance, and that all kitchen areas are kept clean and free of litter, rodents, vermin and insects. Ensure that all dishes and utensils for eating and drinking and for the preparation of food and drinks shall be cleaned, sanitized and disinfected after every use.

Ensure that all food should be protected against contamination. Contaminated food shall be discarded immediately upon discovery.

Ensure that soaps, detergents, cleaning compounds, pesticides and other toxic substances shall be stored in areas separate from food supplies.

Deliver excellent customer service by handling reasonable guests complaints/requests and inform others when required.

Comply with health and safety regulation and act in line with company policies and licensing laws.

Report any observation on residents’ unusual changes in behavior (mental/physical).

Perform other duties as assigned by Administrator/Administrative Assistant, or as needed.

Requirements:

High School Diploma/GED required.

One (1) year job related experience.

Understanding of Assisted Living dietary and nutrition processes and procedures.

Abie to multi-task and manage stress

Understands and embraces the assisted living philosophy.

Ability to work weekends, evenings and flexible hours, and also available for our customers at peak service delivery days and times.

Good and effective written and verbal communication skills.

Mandated Reporter of any suspected elderly abuse, neglect and/or harassment (e.g., physical, mental, sexual, etc.).
