Sr. Human Resources Generalist

The Sr. Human Resource Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with the HR Director in supporting management and employees of multi-unit restaurants. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, and employment law compliance.

The main responsibility of the Sr. Human Resource Generalist is to support the Human Resources Director in every aspect of human resources by responding to HR-related questions of employees.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Recruitment by posting ads on various job boards (e.g., Craigslist, indeed, etc.).

Screen resumes/applications; assist in completion of job application materials and documents, and preparation of employment interviews.

Tracks department headcount and provides management with reports as needed.

Identifying, reviewing, and advising on tasks related to recruitment process and employment strategies to meet human resources requirements. Works with management to identify staffing needs and initiate the hiring/interview process.

Coordinates Spanish New Hire Orientations with candidates or managers. Conducts new employee orientations to ensure employees gain an understanding of policies and benefits.

Participating/coordinating employee events and programs (e.g. Employee Appreciation Day/s, monthly birthdays, employee boards, employee benefits/open enrollment).

Produce HR and payroll reports as required by management or insurance brokers.

Conducts day-to-day payroll administration for two locations and acts as initial contact for inquiries and issues related to payroll.

In conjunction with managers, processes payroll on a biweekly basis ensures accuracy and timely submission.

Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper form.

Collaborate with HR Director on interpreting, assisting, and advising employees and managers regarding company policies and procedures.

Assist with Health benefit administration that includes assisting eligible employees with completion of enrollment forms and explaining different types of health coverages.

Works with HR team on processes and documentation related to health benefit to ensure accurate record keeping and proper deductions.

Collaborates with HRG on resolving employee concerns related to health plans functioning as liaison with various insurance carriers.

In conjunction with the HR team establish, organize, and supervises the maintenance of HR/payroll records, ensuring complete accuracy and confidentiality (e.g. HIPAA files)

Preparing, reviewing, a variety of data, information, and reports (e.g. benefit census, vacation accrual, sick hours, new hires/terminations reports).

Support the HR Director with employee relations, corrective actions, facilitates meetings, draft termination memos and processes final checks and documents needed during exit interviews.

Perform human resource duties such fielding employee questions and concerns, and documenting incidents for the Human Resource department.

Ensures employee issues are properly addressed with a positive outcome. Communicates all HR matters to HR Director.

Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential in all aspects of HR functions.

Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation.

Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

Enhances department and company reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

In collaboration with HR Director develop and implement processes in ADP (e.g., performance evaluation module, recruiting/on-boarding module, and employee and manager self-service modules).

Assist HR Director in benchmarking positions against market to ensure competitive compensation.

Assist HR Director with updating Job Descriptions or creating new ones.

Workers’ Compensation administration and Safety (e.g., sends out monthly Safety Topic, submits work related injuries to WC insurance, follows up on claims, provide updates to managers, and handles WC audits).

Coordinates implementation/ maintenance of Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) by updating insurance plans and rates during Open Enrollment), validation tables in ADP, adding new positions etc.

Training: Managers anti-harassment, Managers Food Handler Certification, New Supervisor/Manager skill or required training.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Great knowledge of employment/labor laws

Proven experience as HR Generalist minimum of 8+ years

Bilingual preferred: Spanish

Understanding of general HR policies and procedures

Adaptability: The individual adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands, and is able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.

English language and professional communications skills are required

Ability to work in a team environment and maintain a positive and upbeat attitude

Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure

Must be detail oriented

Must treat co-workers and customers with respect

Follows safety and health, and sanitation guidelines

Must have problem-solving abilities, be self-motivated, and organized

Outstanding knowledge of MS Office, HRIS/Payroll system (e.g. ADP) will be a plus
