Foster a Dog, Save a Life – Join Ace of Hearts Dog Rescue as a Foster Parent!
Are you an animal lover looking for a meaningful way to make a difference? Become a foster parent with Ace of Hearts Dog Rescue, where every foster placement means another dog saved from euthanasia! We urgently need reliable, committed fosters to provide temporary homes for our rescue dogs, many of whom are pulled from high-kill shelters just in the nick of time. As a 100% foster-based rescue, we can’t save lives without amazing fosters who open their hearts and homes. And fostering is FUN – you'll get to enjoy the love and companionship of a dog without any long-term financial commitment!
What Ace of Hearts Provides:
We cover everything for you – food, toys, treats, beds, leashes, collars, medical expenses – so you can focus on providing love and a safe space for the dog. You’ll get the joy of watching your foster dog thrive, knowing you're their hero on the way to finding their forever home.
Meet Wallace, Zen, and Axel – Dogs in Need of Fosters!
Wallace:
Wallace is a high-energy husky/pit mix looking for a temporary foster from 11/25 to 12/1 while his regular foster is out of town. He’s incredibly active and loves other dogs, so he’s ideal for an active person or a home with a backyard where he can burn off energy. Wallace will need daily exercise and playtime to keep him happy, so if you’re looking for a temporary adventure buddy who’ll keep you on your toes, Wallace is your guy!
Zen:
Zen is a 150-pound Neo Mastiff mix looking for a temporary foster home from November 25th for two weeks. He’s a big lovebug who thrives with structure and discipline and would do best with an experienced handler. Zen needs to be the only dog in the home and isn’t comfortable with people approaching him unexpectedly, which can lead to lunging or attempted biting. However, with proper introductions and calm, confident energy, he’s affectionate and sweet. If you can provide Zen with a safe, structured space, we’ll provide all his essentials—message us to help!
Axel:
Axel is a 100-pound shepherd/lab mix who’s been in boarding for months and is ready to settle into a loving foster home. He’s high-energy, thrives on structure, and does well with other dogs, but he needs a patient, experienced foster who can help him feel secure with new people. Axel is protective and may be wary of unfamiliar faces, so he needs someone who can calmly introduce him to new people and provide plenty of exercise to keep him stimulated. If you have experience with large, active dogs, Axel could be the perfect match for you!
General Foster Requirements:
- Age: 21+
- Home Environment: No small dogs, cats, or young kids; most of our dogs are large (60-90 lbs or bigger!), so fosters must be comfortable with big dogs.
- Commitment to Events: Be available to bring your foster dog to Petco in West Hollywood every other Saturday for mandatory adoption events and to pick up supplies.
- Vet and Meet & Greets: Be able to take the dog to vet appointments as needed and participate in meet-and-greets with potential adopters.
- Household Approval: Make sure everyone in your home is on board with fostering before reaching out.
- Time Commitment: We ask for a minimum four-week commitment. If you’re available only for short-term or emergency fostering, that’s still helpful, but long-term fosters make the biggest difference!
- Fostering isn’t just life-saving – it’s rewarding! Imagine the joy of seeing a once-frightened dog grow in confidence and happiness, all thanks to your love and care.
Did you know that fostering not only saves lives but also helps dogs adjust and decompress, making them more adoptable? In fact, foster dogs are up to 5 times more likely to get adopted after a foster experience!
